Is this a myth or fact?

Midwife asures me itll be easier/quicker this time as my body knows what to do?

Well if all the other threads are anything to go by, I'd say this is not the case. Every woman is different, every birth is different.

My first was born on his due date.
My second was two weeks late.

The first labour was spontaneous.
The second was 48 hr induction.

Mine was quicker and easier - with DS went from first sign of labour (waters breaking) to birth in about 20 hours. Was about 7 hours from first really painful contractions to birth. Also had not great experience with forceps and a PPH followed by being sewn up in theatre for a couple of hours.

With DD went from first niggles of contractions to birth in about 6.5 hours, no stitches needed and birth was a much more positive experience :)

Wow, that was tremendously unsupportive of me, sorry Blush

There's no guarantees of how labour will turn out, I think what your midwife is telling you is not so much that your body knows what to do, but that you do.

You know the process, you know the reward. Relax and enjoy the good bits and I hope it all goes smoothly for you. [hug]

(sorry again)

Just wondered as my first was 24 hours needing hormone drip a epidural that didnt work ended in theatre with spinal block episiotomy and forceps so was starting to feel nervous that itll be the same again!?
so was wondering if I had a chance of a more relaxed maybe shorter abour?

I had 37 Hr induction, drip, epidural, episiotomy, forceps and 3hr pushing stage with DD. Felt panicky and like I couldn't cope soon after drip put in.

With DS just had birth pool and gas and air, felt strong and like I could manage most of the time. 5 hours of serious labour and pushing stage of 7 mins!Grin

The water pool was a godsend. It still hurts but you feel supported and can get into real good upright positions leaning over the edge and you can rock and rotate your hips really easily. I think good upright positions and a comfortable environment is key

I think it would be easier in the sense you know more what to expect/what drugs you want to use :P

ds1 2.5 weeks early. 4 hours start to finish
ds2. 2 days late 2.5 hours start to finish and easier!

DD1 induced 5 days late due to placental bleed, drip, epidural, constant monitoring.

DD2 born 39+6, went in for standard monitoring due to my thyroid condition at 39+5, no signs of labour sent home at 11.50pm, got home at 1amish, contractions started at 2am, back to hospital by 2.55 DD2 born at 3.10am.

Thank you ladies!!
I know its going to be agony etc etc but for me it was the length I pushed for 2 hours once fully dilated and nothing so hence ending in theatre so I just was exshausted!.
I started in the birthing pool as thats, what I wanted but as I just wasnt progressing I had to get out and I was, quite dissapointed.
Id like a water birth this time but want to manage at home with no pain relief for as ling as I can.but we shall see im very very open to all pain rrlief if I feel I need it just very nervous if I have to have a.epidural and it does.not work again! X
