Are Internet cheapie HPTs reliable?

Didn't get much response on conception board, so thought I would try here! I hope you ladies don't mind? I'm on CD27 and have taken about 6 Internet cheapies one strip HPTs I bought from Amazon over the past few days and they have ALL come up with a very faint pink/ mauve second line within 5 mins! Could I really be pregnant? Can these tests be trusted? I would love to know what you think???

Congratulations Smile

Flisspaps · 02/02/2012 19:53

My two internet cheapies are currently an enormous 31wk bump.

From what I have read on here, false positives are very unlikely - 6 false positives would probably be unheard of, especially as you've taken them over a course of a few days.

I think congratulations are in order!

pantaloons · 02/02/2012 19:53

I've bought mine from Poundland in the past in a 2 pack. They've always been accurate. So I don't see why the Amazon ones wouldn't be.

Congratulations!

LoveInAColdClimate · 02/02/2012 19:54

Congratulations! You are pregnant.

Emsgale · 02/02/2012 19:58

Hey my cheap ebay test gave me a faint bfp 2 days before my period was due x

lolalotta · 02/02/2012 20:00

OMG, Thank you for your replies!!! Grin
The lines are quite pale so that was why I was questioning them, but I suppose a line is a line???? Eeeeeek!!!
Which digital test should I go for, is there one particular brand better than another? I felt nauseous for about 40 mins this morning, surely it's too early for all that????

Don't waste your money on a digital test - a line is a line and you are pregnant. I felt sick from five weeks... How far along are you?

lolalotta · 02/02/2012 20:12

Love I'm only on day 27 of my cycle, do surely that's too soon for pregnancy related sickness??????

LoveInAColdClimate · 02/02/2012 20:16

Oh, sorry, you said that in your OP but I missed it. Some people do feel sick very early, perhaps you ovulated early? Anyway, congratulations, you don't need a digital test - save your money for babygrows!

Pixiepops · 02/02/2012 20:23

I've been feeling exactly the same. I've had 3 positives with the amazon cheapies, but can't help thinking a lovely dark line would be much better Confused. I decided to give myself a few days (I only got my first bfp on Sunday), and if I'm still desperate to test again I will on Saturday (with a cheapie first of all, just in case). I am however having pregnancy symptoms, so I'm hopeful that the sensible side of me might win & I'll just accept that I'm pregnant!

LadyMaryCrawley · 02/02/2012 20:23

lolalotta, are you me? for I have been asking that very same question!
I got faint lines on the cheapies yesterday... wasn't convinced as I thought I hadn't even ovulated... just done a clearblue, yes it's positive... so yes!

Congratulations! Grin

babydust27 · 02/02/2012 20:25

Congratulations!! I got a faint positive with the cheap tests from ebay 7 days before AF was due, did a clearblue digital test about an hr later in the afternoon and it said positive. Im now 36 weeks!!

I wanted a digital one as there was not the risk of misinterrupting the result, superdrug is normally the cheapest for them!

Joygirl78 · 02/02/2012 20:28

The pound store double pack of 2 strips have worked for me. Faint line 3 times before period was due each time. Line got progressively darker after a few days.

lolalotta · 02/02/2012 20:33

I am just grinning like an idiot reading your replies!!!! Grin Grin Grin

Oh, and my faint positive on an eBay cheapie at 11DPO is now 34 weeks and kicking me firmly in the ribs as I type...

TinkerMaloo · 02/02/2012 20:37

cheap test are just as good as ridiculously expensive ones!

they all measure the same chemical in yer wee whether it shows digitaly and puts out fireworks and music, or just has a little pink strip...

:)

PeahenTailFeathers · 03/02/2012 00:42

They may even be better than the fancy, expensive digital tests, from what I've heard of friends' experiences. I used a cheap 99p test on the day of my expected af last September and was shocked to see bfp line instantly, even before the control line appeared.
It sounds like you are definitely pregnant - so congratulations! Grin

OhBrotherWhereArtThou · 03/02/2012 00:52

I've had two pregnancies confirmed with eBay strips that were 10 for £1!

If your lines are still faint, wait a week and do another one, you'll really see a difference.

Congrats :o

ardenbird · 03/02/2012 05:42

And not too soon for illness: I was horribly ill (so much so that I went home after 30 min at work, thinking I had one of those 24hr stomach flus) on what I can now calculate to be implantation day!

lolalotta · 03/02/2012 06:42

Well, Ok so it's CD28 and i just did Internet cheapie no. 7 and there is still a faint but pink line, so it looks like it really could be true!!! Grin

goingmadtrying · 03/02/2012 07:59

congratulations Grin

definitely sounds like a positive to me! when i got my bfp i did my first digital in the evening as id done a cheap tesco test at teatime then went shopping to get a digital for the morning but couldn't resist, if it will but your mind at rest go get one and don't forget folic acid if your not already :)

KatAndKit · 03/02/2012 09:10

Congratulations :)

I did a cheapie 4 days before my period was due. Got a very faint line. Am now 30 weeks pregnant. All that those cheapies are missing is the fancy plastic packaging, the box and the brand name. The rest of it (ie the bit that tells you if you are pregnant or not) is exactly the same as a shop test.

Obviously, I also went out and spent too much money on shop tests, just because that is what you often do when you can hardly believe it! Superdrug non-digital early pregnancy tests are not that expensive and have quite a dark dye in them so you ought to get a convincing line. However, there's no actual need to do one, you are most definitely pregnant :)

Gooseysgirl · 03/02/2012 12:49

A line is a line Grin I tested positive with a very faint line 9 DPO but CD 28... Had ovulated late so thought I was chancing my arm a bit by testing so soon, did a Clearblue digital 3 days later which confirmed Smile As an over-anxious first timer I used about another 5 Internet cheapies over the next couple of weeks and each time the second line got darker! Strongly recommend you do a digital, it's great to see the word 'pregnant' appearing! Now patiently awaiting LO's arrival hopefully by the end of the month Smile

lolalotta · 03/02/2012 13:21

I love hearing all your positive stories on Internet cheapies!!! Smile
Good luck to everyone who is popping in the not to distant future!!!
I'm not sure if I will be able to NOT resist getting a digital one you know ladies! Wink
Thank you again for taking the time to reply!!!! Grin
