Transverse lie.

Just wondered if anyone else had this situation. When I was pregnant with DS he was transverse for whole of pregnancy up until day before induced birth due to pre-eclampsia. Until he moved I was scheduled for C-Section but took the opportunity to try naturally and it all went well.

Anyway I have seen midwife for 2nd pregnancy and now know for myself because of only feeling movement on left hand side and directly below tummy button that this baby is also lying consistently in a transverse position. Is this normal and to be expected that babies lie in similar patterns in pregnancy? Daft question do you think my uterus is an odd shape promoting transverse lie?

I really want to avoid a C-section if possible I am 27 weeks so loads of time to change - I tried the spinning baby thing last time to no avail.

If your uterus was bicornuate then it's unlikely the baby would be able to move out of the transverse position at that late stage. My DS was transverse all the way through and unable to turn because I have a bicornuate (heart shaped) uterus.

27 weeks is still very early as you say. Have you looked at the spinningbabies website? spinningbabies.com/

I'll be watching with interest as I'm 34+5 with DC1 who has been stubbornly transverse the entire time. It's not looking good for my planned homebirth!!

I'm 33 weeks and bub has just gone head down after being persistently transverse the whole time, so it does happen (my uterus is a normal shape - I think you would have been told at scans if yours was otherwise?). Really hoping he or she stays there now!

I tried the inversion on the Spinning Babies website, as well as making sure I always sat bolt upright at home and in the car, and leaned over the birth ball as often as possible. I'm going to keep it up until D-day to try to prevent back-to-back too.
