Oh my god the pain is unbearable, it usually gets worse later on in the day but around 3ish i suddenly turn into my nan and start walking like her, it used to be my lower back and i solved this by getting a warm bath each night, but today everything "down there" feels like its on fire.

im only 20 weeks i cant stand another 20 weeks feeling like this, im in pure agony, any ideas or anyone else feeling like this??

Could well be SPD, I would talk to the MW about it.

Sounds very much like me with my third. It was SPD, a support belt helped for a while, but I ended up on crutches by 21 weeks.

Speak to your mw tomorrow and insist on an appointment with a physio, the one I saw specialised in womens health and was a real god send. Ask also about painkillers, I took co-codamol, but I'm not sure if this is still allowed as rules change so frequently!

If there's anything I can help with feel free to pm or ask.

Hi, thanks for that i just googled my symptoms and the name spd kept coming up, i have my second scan on thursday should i wait till then or just ring my midwife ive been allocated, i not actually met her yet though she was off at xmas when i last went and not due to see her again till a months time.

Phone the midwife and ask for referral to obstetric physio ASAP.
In the meantime, try ice packs and otc cocodamol.

Hopefully a physio can poke things back into place but you really don't want it getting worse!

Exactly what notcitrus said. The sooner you ring her, the sooner you can get a referral to a physiotherapist, who will be able to give you prenatal exercises/modifications to the way you move to minimise further damage and pain, plus a support belt if you need one, and you'll also then be able to book in for postnatal physio to help everything go back together after the birth.

Hi, ok ive now rung her 3 times this morning the first she said she was driving and would call me back, i waited an hour and no phone call, since called her twice both times have had to leave messages as phone seems like it was switched off or busy, either way i didn't expect to have to wait 4 hours for a phone call to be returned.

any ideas who i call now, i rung my doctors but they said id have to make an appointment to come in and wouldnt be till next week. im in real agony today, stuck in bed cos i find it so uncomfortable to move and walk, just really hating it at the moment.

Hi Vix1980 it sounds just like SPD to me too. Sadly the physio/doctor aren't going to be able to do anything to make the pain go away straight away. Rest as much as you can until you can get an appointment with the doctor.

I went to the doctor to get a prescription for codeine, didn't bother with the midwife as they are only in the surgery once a week. It was the midwife who referred me to the physio though.

vix1980 · 01/02/2012 12:27

Hi thanks, i have codeine already, its not too bad when I'm just lying in bed on my back but as soon as i move or turn over I'm in agony.

I finally got through to my midwife though, she told me to go to the doctors, they'd already told me to ring her, i give up! I'm only 20 weeks and feel like im being thrown around everyone, i'll just mention it at my next scan tomorrow and hope they take pity on me and see me there!

You could try ringing the local hospital and asking for their obstetric/womens health physio. I know the physio I saw took what she called walk in's, which must be self referals. You might drop on and find someone lovely like I did. She made a huge difference to the levels of pain I experienced by manipulating my pelvis and trying to realign things.

In the meantime, just do what you can, when you can and rest up in between.

Let us know how you get on.
