Hi ladies

To cut a long story short im being induced on Thursday as my babys movements have reduced. On Thursday i will be 39w6d. I had a sweep on Sunday afternoon and again this morning and am still only 1cm so theyve decided its safer to get baby out and induce me, which im more than happy with.

I was jusr wondering is there anything else that i need to take in my hospital bag with me? ive had the basics packed for ages. the midwife said my induction is booked for 4pm and my contractions should start friday morning and baby will be here later that day.

I'm being induced today (wed) at 4pm only thing i'm taking extra is a book as DP will be sent home at 9 if not on labour ward and some extra snacks, we're also going for a nice big lunch just the 2 of us before hospital as it will likely be the last nice filling hot thing i eat for a couple of days, also been advised to sleep in late as i can tomoro as i might not get much or any sleep tomoro night. If theres anything i think i wish i had i'll report back before Thursday.

I've just searched for 'good induction storys' on here and theres a good few who have had babies really quickly being induced just a wee heads up so your ready, i assumed it would take a day or 2 but seems not always :)

Good luck

Good luck Becky.

I was induced last year and I wish I'd taken more 'luxury' items you wouldn't associate with labour (and I'm not the sort who would say that normally)! I had a long induction and for a lot of it I was just in bed as my body did the work. Of course every induction is different, but I was a bit surprised how long I was in hospital, and how inactive and restful it was most of the time.

I actually used the lavender essential oil that I only half heartedly put in! It was very nice having my feet rubbed. Pack slippers, a nighty, shower gel, a good book, iPod, an extra pillow and definitely nice snacks too. If you're not in labour on Thursday night, definitely try and sleep - if they suggest it - I didn't and it would have made a big difference if I had!

You're nearly there - good luck!!!

Hi Becky! I was induced with my first child and had a 12 hour labour. I was put on the drip at 10am and contractions started 2 hours later. I had brought cold drinks etc in to hospital but was told I was only allowed to drink water throughout my labour. This was due to the fact that i was in a medically led ward and was induced due to high bp, so it may be different for yourself. I would just take a book or perhaps some magazines as the first couple of hours of induction can be slow.

I heard a lot of bad stories about being induced, but I can honestly say that I had a fantastic labour. Good luck!!! :)
