Aching/numb left arm at 14 weeks

Any reassurance appreciated!

My left arm is currently really achy and slightly tingly towards the top and underneath near my arm pit. I know carpel tunnel can happen in pregnancy but this is much higher up the arm (as far as I can tell). Anybody else have this?

Sorry to moan but am in utter agony!

I think I had this with DC1. Not sure if it was carpal tunnel (though I did have that). I seem to remember it was just a very annoying, but nondescript pain? It was worse in the morning.

Can't help with a cure but can say that it didn't have any adverse effect on pregnancy other than making me a bit grumpy! Just another one on the joys of pregnancy! (but it's 100% worth it).

I'm not sure this is exactly the same as you are dicribing but I had really achy and painful shoulders and upper arms through most of my first and second trimester. It seemed to sort its self out once I hit the 3rd for some reason.

Make sure you mention it to your midwife if you have an appointment coming up or just give them a call for reassurance but mine just put my shoulder and arm pain down to the general aches of pregnancy.

I found trying differant pillow combinations at night really helped, though I had to keep changing every couple of weeks. Also, I think for me stress made it worse and once I started getting a handle on my handover plan at work and cutting down the amount I was doing I felt much better. Also hot baths are a wonderful thing, I would often end up at 5 in the morning having a nice hot bath just to ease the pain a bit. Try a hot bath and a paracetamol just before bed.

Hope that helps a bit, but do make sure you speak to your gp and/or midwife as well!

Thanks so much. Nhs direct think it's carpel tunnel as it's now hurting between elbow and wrist too. Literally climbing the Walls in agony but reassured that babies ok.

I have numbness in my feet and hands. Having a bath helps me.
