Sadly Dr. is right. You need a bowl by the loo.

Grumpla · 29/01/2012 09:43

Yes and no. Yes it's normal to experience stress incontinence (sneezing, laughing etc and vomiting is a pretty big "stress" as your whole body convulses) but no it's not necessarily inevitable. Start doing Kegel exercises to strengthen your pelvic floor and you might well see an improvement!

CarrieInAnotherTWOBabiTWINS · 29/01/2012 09:49

Yes I do do pelvic floor exercises.

For me (also had twins) it has never gone away.

It's very unpleasant.

spannermary · 29/01/2012 09:58

It depends on how severe the vomiting is... If you have HG I think it's incredibly common; regardless of your pelvic floor!

belgo · 29/01/2012 10:04

This is the only time I have ever had any problem - violent vomiting when I was 8 months pregnant. Too much for my pelvic floor. Never had any problems since.

Thanks for the advice. I had a fourth degree tear with dd, so that have not have helped! Hopefully I won't do it when I'm not pg, but can't remember last time I was sick. Before the pregnancy.

Yes its hyperemesis vomiting , so the violent type of vomiting.

Normal for me from about 20 weeks both times, it went away immediately after my first pregnancy. :)

My husband's young colleague confided in him last week that his wife was terribly upset having wet herself that morning whilst vomiting - my husband just said "meh, get used to it - mine does it every morning". Wink

Grumpla · 29/01/2012 10:23

Blimey if it's hyperemesis then yes, a bowl by the loo would probably be a more effective coping strategy.

Hope you feel better soon OP Sad

spanky2 · 29/01/2012 10:28

When I had the noro virus I vomited hard and wet myself abit. :0( I wasn't pg. I have started doing pilates tho!

CarrieInAnotherTWOBabiTWINS · 29/01/2012 10:29

Grumpla, I'm a lot better than I was thanks I'm four and s half months gone now and hopefully past the worsevof thr hyperemrsis, although I'm still on the medication so see hoe I am when I stop that I guess. Only been sick a few times this week

For me definitely! - also when I cough or sneeze. Before I left work it got to the point that evertime I coughed or sneezed in class the kids were 'miss, did you pee that time?' - to which 9/10 I replied, 'yup, back in a minute'!

alittlesurprise · 29/01/2012 13:19

Sadly, yes I remember doing this when I was pregnant with my 1st. I'd have to change my clothes, but luckily I was only sick at home in the evenings. It would also happen a little when sneezing (and I'd sneeze quite a lot in the bright sun).

My DD is three now and I think it may just be a pregnancy thing as I haven't really done it that much since.

Angelico · 29/01/2012 13:58

ma4pie that made me laugh so much I nearly did a little pee myself. I'm a teacher and can only imagine the horror of widdling in class! I'm already terrified that I'm going to let some gas rip at some stage soon... :o

iwantbrie · 29/01/2012 16:59

Totally normal. Am 37 weeks, still being sick every now & then and wee every bloody time! The fact I also have a stinking cold & cough isn't helping either so I've ended up wearing a sanitary towel to save endless trips to the undie drawer...
am not even going to mention the gas....

milk · 29/01/2012 18:38

I would have to stand in the bath with no underwear on, and holding a bucket for the vomit :(

Coldcuppacoffee · 29/01/2012 18:44

Yes, but only at night in my case (I never vommed at work which makes me think it was a little psychological). Did a few pelvic floors and am benefitting from it now. Wore a sanitary towel day and night through paranoia though...

Yep, sadly you just become a ball of bodily explosions.

This time around I've seen that Always now makes a 'light incontinence' liner, so not quite the indignity of putting Tena Lady on the counter.

Another fun one with violent vomiting, you might burst capillaries in your face, making you look like someone drew freckles on you with a red pen.

I hate pregnancy.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 29/01/2012 19:03

Yep :( I threw up on a plane at 24 weeks with DD1 and pissed all over the seat. Things went steadily downhill from there

Angelico · 29/01/2012 20:59

Oh God Gwen my heart is bleeding in sympathy!!! lol

CarrieInAnotherTWOBabiTWINS · 29/01/2012 21:20

theres no time to empty the bladder first. i figured its either wee or sick on the floor, luckily its only vinyl flooring in the bathroom.
much easier to clean up wee imo

i shall stop worrying about it then.

I got a bug when I was pregnant. I puked while in the car and totally wet through the car seat Blush. (not as bad as a plane though)
And I had to sit on a towel while puking over the loo.
My son is 20m now and luckily all back to normal.

lostinwales · 29/01/2012 21:55

Quite normal, I quite often got a nose bleed at the same time. I was such a goddess when I was pregnant.
