Try E45 cream? My skin is usually dry and was a complete disaster when I was pregnant.

Mama Mio butter stuff in a tub is nice, I used it when pregnant with dd, and will do so again when this bump starts to get bigger! Seemed to relieve that tight, itchy feeling, and smells lovely too.

Aqueous cream? You can apply before the shower & use it was a soap substitute or just slather yourself in it and let it sink in.

Aqueous cream is effective, but from memory is quite full of a high % of chemical nasties you might not want to use when PG. I'm using a Burt's Bees bump cream on tummy and boobs that is cocoa and shea butter and seems to work really well... The Burt's Bees Milk and Honey moisturiser is runnier and lovely everywhere else...

I have been using vaseline intensive care lotion. Liked the Burts Bees butter but found the Burts Bees oil left me slippery for hours and got all over clothes and bedding!

MillyStar · 27/01/2012 15:09

Well first of all respect to you for being able to stand coco butter whilst pregnant, it makes me heave when i'm not so god knows what i'd be like if i smelt it now haha

I've got Diprobase from my doctor, my skin is still dry but i've found that it's not as bad the further along i am (29 weeks now)

I've got a wedding next Sat so i need to fake tan a couple of times this week and we all know what that's like for making skin drier so gawd knows what i'm gonna look like!

lynlynnicebutdim · 27/01/2012 15:52

i use Eucerin cream twice a day. works wonders and stops the dry skin itch.

Dozeyland · 27/01/2012 16:10

Thanks. will look into it, any natural/dietary things I could try also?

When I have time (rare at the moment!) I try and have a nice bath, exfoliate etc.
But me and DD are alone at the moment to so only have the time to dip under the shower for 5mins, so not as luxurious
As my skin needs! I think my hands are so dry from where I'm washing them lots, my legs have been since having dd (she's 15months) and since being pregnant
With DC2 (I'm nearly 24weeks) I've noticed it on my boobs..
I'ce heard good things about burts bee's :)

Drink. more water. Lots more water. Your body needs much more than you think in pregnancy
I had horrendously dry skin during 1st trimester and it responded well to being well hydrated. I was surprised at how much I needed.
It comes back if I'm lax on water consumption.

blondiep14 · 27/01/2012 16:28

Mine was all dry and peely with DS2.
I liked Burts Bees oil, also used baby oil in shower and then E45 on top.
Good advice to drink heaps. It definitely helped.

Commutinghell · 27/01/2012 16:32

Waitrose babies bum cream. It is the miracle cure for dry skin, fine to use on your face, fine for sensitive skin and dirt cheap Smile

heliz · 27/01/2012 16:42

St Ives Collagen Elastin is really good.

surfmama · 28/01/2012 16:56

you can use some almond oil (easy to get in cooking aisle of supermarket) and rub it all over after bath or shower. leave to soak in before dressing. lovely. works for me so far.
