Nuts and other food worries

Still TTC at the moment but trying hard to be healthy and getting myself really confused and stressed out which can't be very healthy/helpful. To put it into context my Mum had some trouble conceiving (obviously managed it in the end!) and also had an early miscarriage so want to take care of myself. Getting confused by lots of conflicting advice as want to eat healthily but so many "healthy" foods seem to be risky now. Key concerns:

Nuts - Can we eat these? I usually snack on them at some point in the day or add into crumble toppings etc. Loads of nutrients but can they cause alergies? Seems to change all the time.
Vitamin A - Have heard too much dangerous for the baby? How much is too much?! I've increased fruit and veg intake and also taking wheatgrass (disgusting but seems to have cleared up persistent cold). Anyone know what's "normal".
Cheese - Think soft cheese is best avoided but LOVE cheese. Is goats cheese ok instead?

If it is any help, I have been eating nuts like crazy and have no problems. The midwife said it was fine to eat them and that you actually ought to because they are so nutritious - unless you have an allergy yourself, of course.
With cheese I think what matters is whether it is made from pasteurised milk or not - not whether it is soft or hard or what animal it comes from. If it's unpasteurised you shouldn't eat it.

Thank you. Good news on the nuts. I don't have an allergy so hopefully don't need to worry too much about this one. Really hard to get it right. You want to eat nutritious food but there seems to be so much scare-moungering about everything it's hard to know what is allowed/recommended.

The cheese advice makes sense. Not sure how to tell this though? Just looked at cheddar and goats cheese in fridge and neither packet says if pasteurised. Maybe soft cheese isn't normally pasteurised?

WRT Vitamin A, you're advised to avoid liver & pate due to high vitamin A content, and also to avoid food supplements containing vitamin A when pregnant.

I don't know of any other foods to avoid in terms of vitamin A.

The NHS website has more advice on foods to avoid in pregnancy:

Thanks for the link boohome. I have switched to the Pregnacare supplement and you are right this doesn't have the vitamin A that is normally in multi vitamins.
