Never been offered one but sounds like a good idea

I had one becasue I have hypermobility syndrome and local anesthetic doesn't work very well on me - I need maximum dose and then it wears off very quickly.

TBH I can't remember all that much about the specifics Blush it was two years ago and I had pregnancy brain - but I saw a consultant anesthesiologist who was very knowledgable and we discussed exactly what happens when I have a local and all the alternatives - they were also worried about generals becasue I have asthma. We came out of the consultation with a very good plan with everything worked out and it was made very clear in my notes so that if I tore they would know a local wouldn't give them a very big time window.

I didn't need any in the end - but it was good to be reassured and the anesthatist was very helful and professional.

I'm having one on Tuesday - because I'm having an elcs which is all planned, it simply makes sense to see the anaesthetist too to make sure everything is hunky-dory and I don't have any allergies or anything.

I had one because I've got mild scoliosis. Basically I was seen by an anaesthetics registrar who examined me to decide whether or not an epidural would go in easily. Which it did in the end when I needed an emcs!

I had one this and last PGs as I have a few high risk factors.

Had a chat about what would happen if GA is needed, if Epidural might be on my list, check of my throat and back, It does help to have control over things and not feel panicked should things take off quickly

I had one today! Mine was because I have had a spinal fusion and was unable to have an epidural when dd was born by elcs 25 yrs ago. Consultant was very thorough, examined me and concluded still not an option for me to have epidural due to scarring. Explained how ga would work if I have cs again and pain relief options if I am able to have vbac.
Hth
