Hi Everyone

My wife is due to give birth to our first child in march this year, and I am wondering if people can give me ideas on what to buy for her, I have a budget of around £150 for it. I have been wrecking my brains for ages and are still Confused She loves baking, reading, jewellery she has a kindle already.

Your help will be good
Thanks in advance

landy I don't think you can wrong with jewellery. This guy makes beautiful pieces and I'm sure you'll find something for your DW on there. alexmonroe the lockets are beautiful too.

Congratulations on the imminent arrival of your baby.

She may already have one but a Pandora bracelet with a pram charm and a little boy/little girl charm depending on what your LO turns out to be might be nice. Then you've got birthday and Christmas presents from you and the baby sorted for a few years too!

id say maybe a voucher for some beauty treatments for before ie mum to be packages or after de,stress, relaxing masage etc or maybe a pamper session at the hairdressers somthojng she can relax and enjoy and it will mske her feel good

Ohhh yes a nice pregnancy massage now and a piece of jewellery after. My dh got me some tiffany earrings and i wear them on dd's birthdays and at her christening etc. I like having something that marks her days. In return i got him some pink enamel cufflinks. What a lovely husband you are!

Oooh my mum booked me a lovely hot stones massage for six weeks after she was born and looked after her while I relaxed and enjoyed it. That was a lovely gift.

Scarlett jewellery does lovely bangles with beads, you can get one with "yummy mummy" on it, around £100 I think.

I'd go with a classic jewellery item, necklace, bracelet, or watch. Something she can keep forever?

Somersaults · 27/01/2012 18:49

Also nice are the Thomas Szabo bracelets - there's a pram charm for them too which is lovely, the wheels on it spin and everything. I agree that jewellery that she can keep forever is the best type of gift.

Flisspaps · 27/01/2012 18:54

Jewellery, yes. Perhaps not a 'yummy mummy' anything or a pram charm though - she'll have enough baby related things to look at.

A nice simple locket or a ring perhaps?

Something that won't date, or look a bit out of place in 30 or 40 years time - or even when your baby turns into a teenager (which I fear something saying yummy mummy or baby related will)

Hi Landy

A lovely delicate necklace with the initial of your baby would be lovely - Laura Lee does some beautiful pieces: www.lauraleejewellery.com/boutique/

My friend bought his wife one when she gave birth to her little boy and she's never taken it off! :)

Lovely of you to think of getting her a gift btw - I think I might have to drop some heavy hints to my DH ;)

Cubtrouble · 27/01/2012 19:44

Firstly, what a nice husband actually coming on here and asking!!

A locket would be a really lovely gift, with space for two small photos?
Tiffany do a nice heart shaped or oval. if you need something easy AND you can buy on line. Obviously coming in the lovely Tiff turquoise box!

Congrats!

Somersaults · 27/01/2012 20:01

I LOVE this initial necklace idea!

And I really wanted a pram charm to add to all my other meaningful charms that I've accumulated - a little church and a heart from our wedding day, an Australia flag from our honeymoon, our little cat, all kinds of things that mean something to me so the little pram has just been added to the bracelet. I don't think it screams 'yummy mummy' too much because you'd have to look pretty closely to distinguish it from all the others, but it means something to me. I'd like a little girl charm now for my next gift!

Think I might go down the route of a Tiffany neckless for my wife, I bought her a 2 day pamper experience one for while baby bump is on way and one for when bump has arrived. I have booked a photo day for all 3 of us for when bump arrives so we have professional pictures of the first few weeks of baby been with us, I booked with www.alanclarkephotography.co.uk who has a great package on at the moment.
