how on earth am I going to make it through another 12 weeks of work?

I'm 40+5 weeks pregnant, have 18 mo DD, we both have stinking colds, I have bad SPD and am up about 6 times in the night anyway. I'm a walking bloody zombie today. DD is down for a nap I can't sleep as MW is coming in a bit.

Feeling sorry for myself? Absolutely!!!

Enid · 20/01/2006 08:56

saw the midwife yesterday who says everything is fine but I look exhausted. Went to bed at 6pm! Still feel like death today so I think I am fighting something off - my friend who I visited at the weekend has developed a stinking cold so maybe it is that.

am going to crawl through work (why does my chairman insist on coming in to chat on a Friday ), then I have a kids party to ferry to (why would a mum organise a treasure hunt and tea that lasts an hour and fifteen minutes - barely long enough to sit down after drop off and pick up ) then I have arranged with dh that he makes dinner and I will read to kids from comfort of my bed

Take a PG vitamin supplement containing iron, just in case you are a wee bit low on iron. I know when I was at about your stage of PG I was really tired/lethargic, unable to get out of bed till 11 a.m., i.e. really symptomatic of anaemia, even though I was only very mildly/borderline anaemic.

Enid · 20/01/2006 10:13

I'm reluctant to take iron as my iron levels were so high at the beginning of pg (15). Will wait over the weekend and if its not a virus will take something next week.

OP posts:
VeniVidiVickiQV · 20/01/2006 11:08

You shouldnt take iron unless you are under 10. If you havent had a test and dont know what your levels are, you really shouldnt take them. They can cause problems if you do. Cut down on tea, coffee etc.

Enid · 20/01/2006 11:09

have cut out caffeine

feel cheerful but utterly shattered today

convinced I have virus or cold coming

thank god for weekend

Blugh, me too, enid (29 weeks). 9 more weeks of work. Can't sleep, have got "restless legs", also keep seeing strange things out of corner of eye (mice, aliens?) whcih i think is just an exhaustion symptom. so big sympathy...

Enid · 20/01/2006 11:28

I really need to go home

but my dratted chairman has said he is coming in today (and not told me when) so I have to lay my head on desk and wait for him. No point in telling him I feel crap as he finds the whole idea of me being pg a)a big joke and b) repugnant.

OP posts:
Enid · 20/01/2006 11:29

ooh I rmember restless legs

horrid you poor thing

seeing things is deffo exhaustion (unless you are taking mushrooms)

OP posts:
nailpolish · 20/01/2006 11:30

when at the kids party could you not stay there instead of rushing home and rushing back again

maybe the nice woman would let you have a lie down on her spare bed or something

Enid · 20/01/2006 11:31

did think of that naily but tbh the idea of being in their house for an hour with loads of shrieking 6 year olds (shudder). Also have dd2 to look after.

OP posts:
GhostofChristmasNatt · 20/01/2006 11:31

maybe I shoul;d be taking mushrooms, might cheer me up? Funny thing is we have got mice - yuck - at moment, just had mouse exterminator man come. so i I lie on sofa at night with my restless legs watching TV not sure whether am seeing actual or exhaustion mice...

sansouci · 20/01/2006 11:31

You can despise me. I'm at home but am so tired I can hardly move. Sitting in front of pc in shorts & t-shirt because I should be on my exercise machine. How pathetic is that?

Enid · 20/01/2006 11:32

GhostofChristmasNatt · 20/01/2006 11:33

cori · 20/01/2006 11:33

ME tooooooooo.
Hace jsut been complaining to colleagues.
Am planning on leaving in March though. Taking 3 weeks A/L then Maternity leave starts at 35 weeks.

nailpolish · 20/01/2006 11:34

how old is dd2?

Enid · 20/01/2006 11:36

3

OP posts:
nailpolish · 20/01/2006 11:38

so why cant she take part in the party of 6 yr olds?

tell the woman at the party how you feel and she will show you to a nice quiet room

if you race home you will just do some tidying up, hang the washing or whatever, then race back again

if i was having a party and there was an exhausted pg woman i would let her lie on my bed with the remote and a cuppae

sansouci · 20/01/2006 11:38

Friday is my day off. the rest of the week I'm a full time slave to my family.

Enid · 20/01/2006 11:39

hopefully she will offer that naily now I come to think of it

her ds and my dd2 are good mates anyway

she is a health visitor though so who knows
