Had to laugh over this one...

There's a bit of an age gap between DP & I (me 30 next month, him already 50), and DP has 2 DSs (13 & 5) who he has custody of. A male friend of ours who's closer to DP's age than mine and moved away about a year ago was back up last weekend and DP told him that I was pregnant.

Friend: "Oh well, these things happen"
DP: "No, they don't just happen. This was very much planned"
Friend (blushing a lot): "Sorry, sorry! I didn't mean... I mean... Congratulations!"

DP told me after and said he found it really funny how embarrassed our friend was, but how daft it was that some people wouldn't expect us to want to expand our family just because he already has 2 boys from his ex.

Glad you can laugh about it!
When I had to tell work at 5 weeks because I was advised not to travel as there was a risk that there was a 2nd ectopic twin, the top boss was asking me what was going on. When I said I had to go for another scan a week later and hope for the best, she asked what the best was - I had to point out that obviously the best was that there wasn't a 2nd ectopic foetus, just a healthy one, thank you very much!

I'm a teacher and when I told my Year 11s one of the boys wailed, 'OH MY GOD: Miss has had SEX' before throwing his head into his hands Shock

crypes · 24/01/2012 15:56

Haha, that reminds me of when my DS was in yr 11 and his spanish teacher had to go on maternity leave, DS said 'omg and shes at least 65'

I've always been pretty much career minded and had never really expressed my desire to have children to family or friends so me and dp never told anyone we were trying for a baby. So when he phoned each member of his family to announce he was going to be a dad every single one of them said with who. We've been together 6 years and we were gobsmaked that they needed clarification

kiki22 · 24/01/2012 23:22

'omg how did that happen?' to be fair we didn't think we could have kids but still it was a pretty obvious answer

"I'm the man!" from dh.

Bless.

sasslejaney84 · 25/01/2012 09:23

i asked my dh2b to tell me the results and all i could hear from him when the lines came up was "well, my sperm still work!"

Angel786 · 25/01/2012 10:04

Lol, similar to sassle having tic for q a while and fears over dh sperm etc 'ive got super sperm!'.

This time as dd is 14 months lots of 'it wasn't planned?' errr yes actually it was!

On announcing %233 to a confirmed bachelor friend "Haven't you two heard of contraception?"

Stropzilla · 25/01/2012 12:39

Said to DH from FIL - "Are you sure it's yours?" Er, don't tar me with the same brush as your other DIL please!

holls2000 · 25/01/2012 12:52

We thought we'd have lots of problems conceiving. On day I got my BFP, DH got into bed smirking and went "well there's nothing wrong with me then....." (I was tempted to tell him I'd had a torrid affair with Brad Pitt but suspect he wouldn't have believed me!!

'I have created life' from DH after one too many at a NY party on announcement of pregnancy with DD. Sadly the joke hasn't worn thin and he the same was said this year while pregnant with DC2.

To top it off (excuse the pun) being told 'it takes a craftsman to put a spout on it' on them hearing it was a boy
