Can you eat herring in pregnancy?

I've tried to find the answer through google, but am still not sure. Does anybody know? Am unsure because the fish is raw.

I'd heat it up.

Is it a rollmop emkana (ie, pickled?)
I did eat M & S sushi when pregnant, both times, and this time round I noticed it was labelled "no raw fish". But it had cold-smoked salmon in it...so I am guessing that a smoking/curing/pickling process will have the same effect as heating it.

It's herring in creamy sauce from Lidl - not sure if that's pickled or not.

Do you mean pickled herrings? I would always cook ordinary raw herrings, but vinegar is a preservative so I would imagine they are ok. The same goes for kippers as they are hot-smoked. Smoked salmon is usually cold-smoked but the smoke is a preservative too and i can't say i thought twice about eating any of those things when I was pregnant - I ate anything and everyhing.

It does have vinegar in it, but not a lot. It's mainly herring and cream.

I think I know the sort of dish and I am pretty sure the herring has been cured, because otherwise it would have gone off very fast.
I would eat it myself as it stands emkana and one thing's for sure - I wouldn't heat that dish up [vomit emoticon]!
