Faint BFPs for a week - am I even pregnant?

I am going a little insane trying to work out what is going on. This was my first BFP on our first month of properly trying. I wondered if anyone had any ideas? I am assuming it is not a viable pregnancy, but not sure what's about to happen.

In summary, v faint BFP on Internet cheapy last Sunday (13 dpo, day period due, was a v late implantation!). Since then, the line got slightly darker until Thursday, and has remained the same, or poss slightly lighter. It is still very faint but visible and showing up in 3 mins. Also been showing 1-2 weeks pregnant on clear blue digital every day since Wednesday. As I am now 20 dpo, I know I should be at least 2-3 weeks and getting dark lines.

I'm worried that it could be ectopic ( unlikely, I know as it is prob just going to miscarry) or a sign of bad quality eggs in general as apparantly that can be cause of late implantation. Has anyone got any similar experiences? Happy stories welcome (this is a much wanted BFP) but I'm a realist and would be great to have an idea of when I'll bleed and what to expect.

Thanks in advance

I had v.v.v.faint BFP's with 3 of my children, mine never got darker and they are 6, 3 & 1 now.

I had one BFP's with really dark lines and ended up having a MC- so there really is no rhyme or reason.

I am now 7 weeks with a strong line and hoping all will be ok!

Congratulations.

X

Thank you so much for your replies. It feels really strange to get "congratulated". Poor dh is sick to death of the whole poas charade and with me being so certain it won't stick we haven't even considered celebrating. It is lovely to hear positive stories- did you everfind out why your lines didn't get darker? Do some people not have as much hcg in urine?

Which tests are you using? afaik 1-2 weeks would still cover you on cbd Confused, you may be 20dpo, but you have no way of knowing how many days post conception or implantation you are. Different tests produce different intensity lines imo, nothing to do with hcg, can be to do with how much dye is used in the tests (I always had madly faint lines with first response, they are stingy with the dye).

I would stop testing now, it is not a reliable indicator of pg progression and must be costing you a small fortune, never mind sending you insane with worry. Go to your GP, they will most likely give you folic acid and send you on your merry way with a booking in appointment, if you explain your concerns and maybe cry they might book you in for blood tests to put your mind at rest.

CONGRATULATIONS you are indeed pregnant, testing or not testing will not in any way affect the outcome, good luck.

Hello again. Thank you so much for the replies. I just wanted to put up an update, in case anyone has found this thread in a search and wanted to know the outcome. Unfortunately i started bleeding yesterday - not much different from my normal light period, but with more clots. I would have been 5 w 2 days. However , I knew the Pregnancy had never got off the ground. Oh well, onwards and upwards. Feeling sad but there must have been something very wrong for it to end so early. Fingers crossed for next month or the next......

Erm, Lola...you should really read the whole thread before posting.

Sorry about the outcome, OP. I know its no consolation but chemical pregnancy/ early miscarriage is extremely common and not generally an indicator of problems...just one of those unfortunate things. Wishing you luck for the future.
