Have just tested poitive for #3 so, all being well, I will have 3 children, under 5, by September.
I am scared!!
DS1 will start school beginning of September so I hope a new baby a few weeks later won't upset him too much. DS2 due to start going to pre-school in September too so it will all be new for everyone and then we chuck a baby in to the mix Shock!!
Are we insane? Please tell me it will be OK!

DH away at moment so nobody else knows!

If it makes you feel any better I've got %233 due in may with a 3 and a 5 year old...panic starting to set in here too! My friends mum who was in the same position but 30 years ago has always said the first few years were hard but it was worth it!!

KalSkirata · 19/01/2012 19:29

it will be fine. I had 3 under 3. Do the important stuff and ignore the non important.

bigscarymum · 19/01/2012 19:32

It will be lovely. Mine are now 16,13&11. The only thing I would watch out for is that the one in the middle can get left out. I made sure to have special time with each of them once the immediate new baby bit was out of the way. I wish I was back in the 3 under 5 days. Or perhaps to be completely truthful, the 3 between 2 and 7 days. Good luck.

Dalrymps · 19/01/2012 19:34

I am 20wks pg with %233. Also starting to panic a little! Ds1 is 4.2 and ds2 is 22mo.

It'll be ok..... Right?Confused

Dalrymps · 19/01/2012 19:34

That's was supposed to say number 3Hmm

SoozyWoozy · 19/01/2012 19:40

Congratulations on your BFP!
You'll be fine! I had 3 under 4. Early days are hectic, that's true. Don't sweat the small stuff, and if you crack the bedtime routine, everything else will seem easier. Now mine are 5, 3, 18mo, and they can play together, do roughly the same activities, so might actually be easier than a bigger age gap.

Firawla · 19/01/2012 19:51

you will be fine! i have 3 under 5, well they are 3 in 3 years, and i was a bit worried about all new things at once especially for my oldest, as we moved house twice at that time, and was supposed to be starting nursery around the same time in sept (although he ended up not starting til jan so think that worked out better), but really children are very adaptable it didnt phase them at all to have new baby and other changes going on all at the same time. if you are worried about that then just everything else about their normal routines and home environment, just keep it the same and so that will be reassuring for them even though they have new sibling and new schools
and it will be nice for you to get couple of hours just for yourself and the baby while the bigger 2 are in school/preschool, either to get one to one time with baby or if u can even sleep for an hour or something! but im sure it will work out fine - congratulations!!!

morethemerrier · 19/01/2012 20:10

Another one going to have 3 under 5 (29 weeks preg DC4), as well as a 12 yr old with Autism.

Going to keep me on my toes! Grin

Congrats, don't sweat the small stuff, choose your battles well and enjoy it, they won't be little forever! x

Dozeyland · 19/01/2012 20:52

i'm being daft, whats %233?

I'm going to have 2 under 2 in May. We've always wanted a big family, so starting off :)

NormanTebbit · 19/01/2012 20:56

All I can say is DD3 is now aged two and a half and things have just started to get easier.

It's worth it whenyou see them playing together. It's a nightmare when they start screeching.

DiscoDaisy · 19/01/2012 21:02

When my no5 was born my other children were 8 and a half, 4 and 3 weeks, 2 and 5 mths, and 13mths.
I had 4 aged 4 and under. It was absolutely crazy but great as well. Now they are older by 7 yrs the hormones in our house are taking over but I wouldn't be without any of them!

blondiep14 · 19/01/2012 21:22

Thanks all - very cheering!

I hate finding out so early, I'm going to have to wait another 6 or 7 weeks before a scan (all being well). I don't like to say anything until I've had a scan but everyone guesses as I lay off the wine!

Wonder how DH is going to react!

Hi blondiep14, I am in exactly the same position as you - due in late August (I think).

DD1 will be starting school in Sept, and DD2 will be starting preschool. We will also be moving house in June (fingers crossed).

Mum and MIL both live a distance away, no family nearby, and won't be able to help out, I have no idea how we will manage school run x 2 with a newborn baby in the early days!

Although I am really looking forward to those early days when DD1 and DD2 will be at school/preschool, and I'll be able to snooze with the baby all morning :)

I think if we have managed 2 pre-schoolers together this should be a doddle I am clearly in denial

blondiep14 · 24/01/2012 11:41

Hi Vanimal - surely it must have stood us in good stead?!

We were trying to work out car logistics last night - we didn't get very far!

hackneyzoo · 24/01/2012 11:59

I have 3 under 5, it was 3 under 4 for a bit. It's a bit crazy, but fine, not too much different from 2 really....just more washing and less time to yourself.
As far as the car goes, we can cram them all into a ford focus estate...for now! What I really want is a bigger bed! I end up hanging off the edge when they all clamber in in the morning!

wahwahwah · 24/01/2012 12:00

My mum had three under three, which is quite and achievement when there were no twins! She managed fine!

blondiep14 · 24/01/2012 12:29

Ooh, yes. A bigger bed...I thought about that this morning as DS1 and DS2 climbed in. It's on my wishlist!
Do all 3 seats fit in a Focus Estate then Hackney, that's one I'd forgotten about - thanks.

hackneyzoo · 24/01/2012 13:32

They do you about..I went to the Essex car safety centre and they tried out just about every option, for DC1 we have a maxi cosi rodi Hig backed booster (she is 4.5), DC2 (3) has a britax eclispe and DC3 (12 months) is still in a britax baby seat thing... am too scared to try out the bigger seat yet in case it doesn't fit and she is tiny anyway!

vanimal · 24/01/2012 13:56

I am wondering how we will manage to shower and dress three under 5 before 8am each day...

Although DH does manage to get both DDs ready in the morning whilst I lie in (bad morning sickness), so I reckon he'll have to continue doing the older two, whilst I sort myself and the baby out each morning.

(I did try bathing DDs in the evening, but I am far too tired to do that every evening, hated it when I did)

We're also looking to upgrade the car - we saw a Ford Smax which seems ideal - it's a 7 seater though, so definitely a mum car, which I never thought I'd be driving.

blondiep14 · 24/01/2012 14:22

Oh we, or usually I, bath the boys of an evening.
DH might be able to do the morning school run a few mornings of I'm lucky - really hoping so.

I'm going to be a mess with DS1 starting school as it is, let alone throwing a newborn and accompanying hormones in to the mix (doh!).

We currently survive with one estate car but will have to get two come Sept with school and a new baby, we're thinking I'll get a normal sized car as it'll be me +3 most of the time, and DH will get a ppl carrier type for work and family trips. We think.

harrygracejessica · 24/01/2012 17:37

I have 5, 4 and under and do the morning school run on my own some weeks. It's manic but I have times I stick to and when OH is here he has to stuck to it too so the kids don't get confused.

I do baths in the evening, there just isn't time in the mornings and all the clothes are ready in piles
the night before so there is no rushing about clothes searching!

CathFin · 24/01/2012 19:49

I'm having my third in June and will have 3 under 5 too - I'm sure it will be fine ;-)
Slightly more alarmingly is that my husband was recently made redundant so he is job hunting and we might have to move plus find a school place for DD1 who is meant to start school in September. Refusing to panic yet!
