hello lovely mums...i am not buying anything until my 20 week scan (which I think is 22 weeks - currently 18+4ish) but I can't stop peaking and am still wondering about pushing things. OH says we can just carry baby around and don't need a push chair, he does make me laugh, or maybe this is true? anyway does anyone know of a buggy type thing that lies flat for a nb and goes on the beach? I know nothing goes on pebbles but I am dreaming of low tide sand walks with a baby how exciting! Obviously I am not lazy and will have a research but thought your expertise may help..

Sling all the way for walking on the beach. If you don't fancy wrapping yourself a connecta might be good.

Where are you based? There are sling groups / libraries you can go to to choose the best sling and try them out

Not sure if you can get them in the UK but we got a Mountain Buggy (plusOne) because we go walking on unpaved tracks, beaches up into the ranges etc a lot. We needed a buggy that we could take anywhere with the dog. It also extends to become a two-seater if you decide to have more than one. It's pretty cool. May be worth considering if you can get them over there? Wouldn't be that great for public transport though because it's a bit bigger than a lot of others. For us it wasn't an issue because public transport is crap & virtually non-existant where we live.

I've got an Emmaljunga Herqules Razor 6 Spin, I bought it second hand and it may be worth looking out for one on ebay or gumtree as I'm not sure if they sell them in this country or not.

I find it really tough and it can cope with the beach and rough ground. It's a big pram though to store, and quite big for small shops. But if you want it just for outdoors type stuff it's great.

I've just found a thread here about it:

I agree a mountain buggy is the best for walking and the beach. They lay completely flat but you can also buy a carrycot part to use aswell.
As for slings, I found the easiest one was a "close" sling.

You need big, fixed wheels for off road. I had a mothercare Urban Detour pushchair, it was great on the beach and even on a ploughed field one time!

You can get Mountain Buggys here, the Swift is the smallest and lightest and goes completely flat for newborns.

You can get wrap slings which require tying, but my DH uses a connecta with our 7 week old DS - straps and buckles and nothing to tie!

A Bugaboo will go on the beach easily. Flip in onto two wheels and you can easily pull it behind you. Or just push it as normal!
Expensive but worth it. Check Ebay for secondhand ones.
