Im just going for the cheap £14.99 one from babies-r-us. Simply because - like you said, its good to have somewhere to pop them - but its not worth paying anymore incase you get a baby that doesnt like being put down. Some of them are SO expensive, I'd be gutted if id spent £100 and then not been able to use it at all.

As a side note, in Mothercare last week - a young man was returning an all singing all dancing rocker that had cost a fortune but wouldnt switch off. They'd removed the power source and it STILL wouldnt stop! It was just rocking eerily in the shop...... Confused

lol how odd about the rocker in the shop. :)

I think I may just get a cheapie one aswell although after having a think I have ds's rainforest swing in the attic so I could use that as ds loved that but hated rockers, but its so big I just want something small that can be moved when not in use.

I've been wondering the same. Ds hated his rocker but it had been given to us so it was fine that we didn't use it. Im pretty sure we give it back as we didn't use it. I have a fisher price swing but ds was a few months old when we started using it. I'm not sure how a newborn would manage. It can be reclined but it's still pretty upright and takes up a lot of room like you said. Also a rocker would be easier to take upstairs when in shower etc.

I'm getting a new mosses basket as John Lewis have one for £35 so it's not the end of the world if it doesn't get used much. I think I might have a look at a cheap rocker. It's so easy to get sucked in by the all singing all dancing ones tho Smile

Can I recommend looking for a second hand one from a NNS (if you have any near you) or eBay? I got one from there for £5. I'd also recommend the basic one from Boots as it folds really flat when not in use.

Also, there's nothing wrong with lying them on something soft, like a folded blanket, if you don't have a bouncy seat.

Both my dd and ds had toys r us own brand ones which were £50. Didn't use the rocking or music feature but they were really wide and reclined almost flat and they would sleep really contentedly in them. Looking for another one now and leaning towards them again, just waiting to see if I should get it in pink or blue!

We have this is it pointless buying a rocker too? I thought a rocker would come in handy for moving around eg taking upstairs while in shower/getting dressed if the baby has fallen asleep in it.

I've brought a second hand one and washed the covers for DC1 but I'm also getting a travel cot with bassenitte in for downstairs as we have a med size dog who is only 2 and I want him to be able to be with baby but not touching so this a good idea plus I can use it for other things. I will also use the rocing chair as required

I got a baby bjorn one. I know that it's fancy and expensive but, my mum had one for my siblings and they loved it. It's one of those things that stuck with me and I always wanted to have one :)
