Lying to midwife about LMP

Just wanted some advice really. I've just found out I'm pregnant. BFP on Sunday, which was my due date from last mc. I'm obviously overjoyed as we've been trying since the mc in June. But also petrified after 2 consecutive mcs.

My LMP was 14th dec, but I don't ovulate until day 21, and ov tests confirmed this. Shall I add a week onto my official LMP date so that any early scans I choose to have with my local EPAU don't cause alarm re: showing foetus is a week behind, IYSWIM.

Or is that ridiculous?

I'd lie tbh! It's not really a terribly important medical fact, as even people who have definitive OV dates can go over/under but I would want to avoid them doing the whole "ooh, you're measuring small". On the other hand, it buys you time if you want to avoid induction as this is where due date makes the biggest difference in practical terms. They will usually go by the scan date anyway...

I have a short cycle and worked out when my period "should" have started based on the 28 date cycle and told them that. My EDD got brought forward slightly at my first scan however. It annoys me too that they are so stuck on this 28 day thing assuming that everyone is ignorant even when told otherwise. What also irks me slightly is that I am 6' tall, and am likely to have a larger than average baby, so I am confident that the EDD they've given me is a few days on the short side. I'm now "39+3 weeks" and will be looking down the barrel of induction in a couple of weeks when the fact is that I think my baby is probably going to be a bit bigger than "average" and should in fact be 38+3.

Thanks for all your replies.

The bad news is that it's all irrelevant as I started bleeding this afternoon Sad.

I'm gutted; completely gutted. I guess it counts as a chemical pregnancy rather than a third mc but either way, I'm so cross with my body.

Sorry to hear that mistress. I've just had the same thing happen to me (bleeding, sadly it was an early miscarriage) and I'm also gutted. Thinking of you. X

PieMistress · 18/01/2012 20:38

so sorry mistress that's gutting, thinking of you xx

I knew when I conceived as it was the only opportunity I had between a MC can BFP, I told the MW that, and she made up my LMP date, but then we had no LMP as it was a mc.
But once you have your scan they go by the scan date no matter what (with DS, DH had been out of town on the day I supposedly conceived by scan date (3 days before I ovulated) but there was no arguing with it!)

FutureNannyOgg · 18/01/2012 20:45

Aw crap, missed page 2, so sorry for your loss.

Velvetcu · 18/01/2012 21:26

BrownB · 19/01/2012 09:56

I'm so sorry to hear that MoP. Hope you're able to get an early scan etc sorted and fingers crossed for you. I've had two mc's myself, and my heart goes out to you.

farfallarocks · 19/01/2012 12:08

So so sorry to hear that, hugs to you, look after yourself
