Is it worth having a fetal well-being scan later in pregnany?

I'm 31+4 and have been dithering over paying for a fetal well-being scan to check the baby's size etc. I'm measuring fine for dates but am clearly just a bit paranoid. Did you have one? Did you find it helpful and reassuring? TIA.

Just to clear up the Glasgow controversy, yes until very recently it was about the last place in the UK where only one scan, a dating scan at 12 weeks, was routinely offered to all pregnant women. You only got other scans if it was needed. That changed about two years ago. I had all my pregnancies under the old system without problems.

To the OP, and apologies for going slightly off topic, I can see that my experience of very limited scans has informed my view, but I do believe that while scans are incredibly helpful, they can also cause unnecessary anxiety and worry. My advice would be that if all seems well to you and your midwives, save the money for a great massage.

Lucid how long after the scan did the baby come? Just interested.

She arrived the day before her due date - I got a bit overexcited when they told me she was engaged as I thought that meant she'd be early but no such luck!
