Im 19 weeks this week and am waiting to feel the baby move, i have no idea what im meant to be waiting for though, what does it feel like to you?

Ive read some describe it as bubbles.. i dont know how i can feel bubbles, this morning lying in bed i felt as if my stomach was flipping over, like when you drive up a big hill fast and come down the other side, i dont know if thats it, but am slightly constipated at the moment so i just always think its just that....

Yep that's it. I also had butterflies once. It's a weird sensation tgat you can't always describe.

Boomerwang · 16/01/2012 13:00

Wait a while. I didn't feel anything until about 20 weeks and you WILL know the difference between stomach/bowel bubbles and baby bubbles because it feels like bubbles that don't pop and don't make a noise.

Oeisha · 16/01/2012 13:01

For me it was like bubblegum popping...nothing like others described it...and an awful lot lower than people told me to look for. 20wk scan showed my LO firmly on her head very low down, so that explained it.

What you're feeling could be your LO, might not be. If you have an anterior placenta this might delay feelings too.

Just watch the constipation...the larger you get the more hidoues it can be. Thanks to a UTI and codeine I was in hospital for DAYS trying to overcome constipation (and the UTI) as it was causing contractions, so if the usual dietry stuff (plenty of fluids, dried fruits, pears, upping fibre, prune juice) etc aren't working, get some lactulose or similar. Never had so many people interested in my bowel movements!

At first I felt something like butterflies, or someone tickling me from the inside.

Then it was like you describe above.

Since about 23 weeks I can actually feel her moving from the outside if I put my hand over my tummy.

vix1980 · 16/01/2012 13:20

Just after writing that i started feeling it again, so maybe i can feel it moving, it was horrible though feeling my tummy flip, actually it woke me up!

ill probably be moaning soon that i want it to stop fidgeting so im not in any hurry to feel it, although i would like it to be prominent so my partner can feel it too, thanks though i do feel more certain i felt the baby move. I didn't want to dismiss it for something else and still be wondering at 22 weeks or whenever that i hadn't felt anything.

I started to feel movement at around 20 weeks and the only way I can describe the feeling it was like popcorn popping, it's a really nice feeling. Don't stress tho some people don't feel movement till up to 24 weeks. Now I'm 35 weeks and movement has become more painful. Enjoy it while the flutters last. :)

I felt them with first baby from about 20 weeks. Best time is at night-they are more awake then apparently.
Lie on your tummy if you can when in bed. You may feel a movement like a "tap" from abdomen. If you tap the back of your hand lightly that is what it felt like to me. I guess the baby is "tapping" the womb wall!
Before you know it you will be feeling it all the time!

nickelhasababy · 16/01/2012 15:09

i didn't have a clue, either.
at 20 weeks, i thought i felt movement and had MNers confirming it Blush

felt like farts in my tummy.

vix1980 · 16/01/2012 15:09

woopsidaisy Weirdly enough that's what woke me up, i must of turned over in the night and was sleeping on my tummy when i felt a couple of pains like someone tapping me to move, i didnt twig what it was at first, but had a few more little taps today, i've also had some chocolate at dinner time and since then its like its been a party in my tummy, its definitely going to be a wriggler!

vix1980 My SIL says that DN always went mad moving after she had eaten chocolate. My DD starts moving almost every time I have a cold drink.

Her best time for moving is as soon as I lay down in bed to go to sleep :) It was only last week (about 23 weeks) that DH was able to feel her too though.

vix1980 · 16/01/2012 15:38

Well i have just devoured half a chocolate orange left over from xmas, so god knows how long the wriggling will last.....what have i started! i cant wait for my partner to be able to feel it, he still doesn't believe its all happening so think it will sink in a bit more when he actually feels it
