Swimming! I swam lengths right up until the day before going into labour and it always made me feel so light and normal! Highly recommend, especially while pregnant. Had to stop running about 20 weeks due to feeling too exhausted... but I think ultimately don't push yourself too much. Perhaps just step back a little from what you'd normally do.

capecath my midwife told me not to do breaststroke in case water goes up my fanjo while i'm kicking my legs and does damage to the baby Hmm

I have deduced that this is bolleaux. Do you do front crawl or breaststroke?

Depends what you were doing pre-pregnancy! I'm a fitness instructor so was able to keep doing what I always do - just dropped Combat for fear of stray feet!

If you've never really been active, now is not the time to start a high energy programme - most instructors wouldn't take you in their classes if they hadn't met you before - and be sure to tell your regular instructors you're pg too, they can keep an eye on you and adapt your workout if necessary.

Swimming is ideal if you can stomach it, walking is good for you - a gentle stroll after eating helps combat heartburn.

A friend of mine also loves her pilates in pregnancy DVD, but more for it's relaxation element, than the exercise she feels she gets from it.

Cheeser, hehe, that's funny :) I do front crawl, but really can't see how the stroke would make any difference...

Agree with Jambalay - I didn't ramp up my exercise, just a modified version of what I was already doing.

LOL! Mental MW you have there cheeser. I did/do breaststroke as you'll be fine vagina wise. The reason to avoid breaststroke is if you're getting pelvic gurdle pains especially for diagnosed PGP/SPD as it can make the whole situation worse. But, if you're not suffering, breaststroke's fine. Personally I find crawl a nightmare as I end up bashing my boobs, or it wiggles me about too much and my indigestion flares up...
