Is it weird to dislike baby movements?

I'm not totally turned off by it, but I do feel a bit 'erghhh' when the baby moves around. At first when it was all fluttery I had a big grin like it was proof I really was having a baby at some point, but now it happens so often and is a bit stronger that it almost feels creepy. Also at first the feeling was in my abdomen, then it moved up to my tummy and now it's all over both areas like she's all stretched out or something. Sometimes when I'm walking I feel like I've got a heavy bumbag on my that's about to fall off...

It is certainly something to get used to. Particularly when the baby is quite big but still moves about a lot and your stomach looks like there's a writhing alien in there. You can feel a bit booted about on the inside which can be very uncomfortable. But these are good things really, a reassuringly strong baby.

It won't last long, your baby will be here in a matter of weeks Smile

i find it a bit irriating and painful now at 34 weeks. i always place my hand where he repeatedly kicks just to remind him that I am a person and not a punching bag :)

Boomerwang · 13/01/2012 20:31

Ooh yes, putting a hand on it seems to stop it happening. At least it did when it was my fella's hand :P

Problem is now that the squelchy feeling is all over my belly and I have little hands :(

Am only 12 weeks so it hasn't happened to me yet but I'll admit I'm not actually looking forward to it as I'm fairly sure I'll find it a bit odd to say the least!

I know it's the sign of a healthy baby etc etc and that's obviously all good but I just know it's going to freak me out a bit!

I wouldn't worry, there's no right or wrong way to feel. We're not all earth mothers.

kicks and punches i can take all day. Its the yoga/stretchy movements that always seem to be right behind my belly button i really don't like

HardCheese · 13/01/2012 22:12

I love the feelings, but I admit to having found it initially enormously freaky to look down at my bump in the shower and see it writhing around like someone stuck a bag of annoyed kittens under my skin Grin...

TheAvocadoOfWisdom · 13/01/2012 22:13

I didn't mind the kicks but I didn't much like the full-on squirming sessions where you could feel and see the alien moving under your skin at 7 months :o

I'm 35+4 and I still get a bit freak out by it (DS seems to know that I'm writing about him, and is shaking his head). Read in several places that by now, he should be calmer due to lack of space, but it's utter bollocks. Today my boss caught me talking to the bump telling him off for poking my sides, stretching and generally making me feel uncomfortable, he looked at me in a very odd way!

I'm 24+5 with mine, having had lots of previous losses and never made it quite this far before. I thought I'd find it really strange, but I love sitting here looking at the writhing going on under there and feeling her moving. I'm assuming when she gets a bit bigger it will get more uncomfortable and I won't enjoy it so much, but right now it's still magical. She seems to like daddy's hand as she always starts moving when he feels for her. My hand she just ignores...

The worst is when mine shoves his bum up under my ribs - don't like that as can be excruciating. Seems to be particularly keen on doing it when I'm driving. I don't mind the rest of it too much - reassures me he's OK (39+6 today). But I do feel sometimes like I'm about to re-enact a scene from Alien!
