I started having contractions at around 2am yesterday which were around the 6 minute Mark, lasting for about 40-50 seconds at a time. I phoned the assessment unit at my hospital at 7am and was told to phone back when they were 3 minutes apart and lasting more than a minute... they continued in the same vein all day and night.

This morning they are definitely much much more painful, lasting for more than a minute but still only averaging around every 5 minutes.

Hospital now saying ring back when every two minutes apart and you can "set your watch by them".

I'm Term+11 today and waters still in tact. Been offered no monitoring and getting concerned that I'm going to be like this for hours yet - I'm exhausted!!

Should I just go to hospital and get them to do some checks???

Phone them up and say you can't cope anymore. I had contractions for 12 hours but they didn't become regular or unbearable. Hospital said I could go in but be prepared to be sent home. Went along and was 6cm dilated, waters went and the contractions ramped up and became regular. I think after so long they should be checking you out plus 2 minutes apart is quite close for you to still be at home. Our hospital say go in if 5-7 minutes apart.

Good luck!

When I was in 'proper' labour there's no way I could have MNed. :(

I had a false alarm at 40+7 where the baby was turning and moving position (unbelieveably painful) that coincided with low level cx, so when they monitored me nothing matched up, IYSWIM and I went home.

It is soul destroying. I don't think you are in danger of anything apart from getting knackered. If I were you I'd stay home, because I am scared of intervention, and didn't want any 'big' drugs.

What do you want to do?

Oh sorry, should have said, it was another 5 days until baby came. (when she did it was a VERY fast and easy labour, if that cheers you up. I had done all the hard work on and off over an extended period, rather than all at once)

First baby?

Maybe baby is in a slightly awkward position so I suggest getting walking, lots of active labour positions - on the bouncy ball, upright and forward, up the stairs etc. Have a regular rest and snack though.

Yes, first baby.

Was already 1cm dilated and down to 1cm effacement at sweep on Thursday and cervix very soft and "ready".

Have had a shower which has seemed to make them a bit more regular but they're getting increasingly painful Sad

Also, baby has been in best position for weeks now with no change and is fully engaged.

Can you get someone to go for a walk with you? I'd be making my DH have sex with me to get the baby out, his sperm is like a womb evacuation alarm

You are really ready. Whatever you do you won't be waiting too long.

If it is bad, go to hospital. You don't have to be this sad.

Painful is good! Iywsim?! Get back in the shower Wink
