9+5 and worrying pains

I've been trying really hard to calm myself on the constant worrying about miscarriage front, and seemed to be making some progress, but then today I've had a series of strange and worrying pains. I had several waves of stomach pain this afternoon - it sort of radiated across my whole stomach an was quite horrible. This was shortly followed by some sudden back pain on the lower right hand side. Now tonight I've just had about 7 or 8 one after the other really sharp waves of pain in my lower back, this time on the left hand side.

Does anybody know what this might be? Does it sound like anybody's past experience of either miscarriage or everything being ok? I'm seeing midwife this week but know she'll be no help - she's very unsympathetic and thinks 'if you're going to miscarry you'll miscarry' and 'if there's no blood get over it' basically. :(

Hi, just wanted you to know I feel for you. Especially during my second pregnancy, I was constantly almost expecting to miscarry and really worried, so I know how exhausting this constant worry is. When you then get actual pains, it is sooo upsetting!
Try to focus on the fact that you are not bleeding. But even if you were, that still wouldn't necessarily mean anything. I had a bleed during the first trimester of my first pregnancy and everything was fine.
You can always go to your nearest Early Pregnancy Unit (there was one at the hospital where I had planned to give birth) and get yourself checked out, you shouldn't have to wait for a midwive to see you if you're experiencing pain.
I had some cramps in the second trimester of second pregnancy and was really worried then (and went to an Early Pregnancy Unit then) but everything was fine, they concluded it was just cartilage and membranes stretching and everything in there adjusting and making space for the growing baby. So, it may well be just that! But do go and get yourself looked at tomorrow if you're still worried.
