Is it really a boy?

We were told at the 20 week scan that our baby is a boy. I couldn't see any 'parts' on the screen until the sonographer showed us its bits and it did look quite a lot like a willy and a ball in profile.
But how many of you have seen what looks like boy bits on the scan only to be mistaken and have a girl pop out? Should I not get too carried away on buying all the dinosaur themed items?

I have a girl and a boy and am pregnant again with a boy. My dd is 7 and tbh the scan we had with her wasn;t that clear, the machine was old and so we were none the wiser. With both ds's, however, their bits were quite clear to me, and I'm no sonographer Grin I was sure this little one was a boy before the sonographer even confirmed it, so clear was the picture. I think tbh there will always be stories of people being told the wrong sex, but they are very unlikely to say if they're not pretty sure they're right.

I think they are less likely to get a boy wrong from the scan, although its never 100%.

During both my pregnancies I found out the sex (both girls) and the sonographer was right both times. I did buy girly clothes but tended to stick to neutrals for the nursery and bought some unisex babygrows etc, just in case!

DS was such and exhibitionist on both the 22 and 32 weeks scans :o
As soon as the sonographer placed the scanner on my tummy on the first one, she said immediately "do you want to know what it is? Because I already know" and on the second scan the sonographer said (again as soon as he placed the scanner) "if you weren't sure before, this is definitely a boy".

Dinosaurs rock! What's wrong with dinosaurs for girls? Go for it.
I'm (in theory, and according to the 3 lines and no obvious penis or balls) having a girl and my nursery is majority blue - much to my Mum's horror and the confusion of shop assistants, some of who ask me if I'm really sure I want blue when I tell them she's in theory a girl...

With my second baby, as soon as the sonographer put the thingy on my belly you could see a penis on the screen. DS1 was upside down so I could see his bumhole, penis, and testicles. It was a good job we wanted to know, It couldn't have been any clearer!

On the run up to the scan I had been looking at images of boys bits on google just to make sure I could tell for myself Blush

In some areas (like mine) there are some 4D companies that offer a free 3D gender scan. We had one booked so went along anyway.

I was lucky enough to need a late 37ish week scan. I asked again whether it was still a boy as we had been told at the 20 week one. Now, somewhere in the loft is a scan pic of just DS2's willy. Grin

Don't worry about blue and dinosaurs, I recently asked DD (2.5) what colour she wanted her new bedroom. Her reply was 'blue with dinosaurs'!

I think they get boys right more often than girls, so if they said its a boy, i would take it at 99% sure its a boy, congrats! Smile

Hi OP, DH and I decided to find out the sex of DC1 at our 20 week scan; the sonographer told us we were having a girl (which surprised me as I 'felt' I was carrying a boy). Fast forward 18 weeks and many shopping trips for dresses etc and out pops a boy...
I think our story is quite unusual, and apparently, it is more common for them to mistake a boy for a girl than vice versa!
