20 weeks no movement

I had my 20 week scan at 18 plus 3. Everything was fine but they couldn't see where the placenta was. This is my first pregnancy. I've never really felt much in the way of movement. I thought I felt it during the scan when she was prodding me and on a few other occasions but I've felt nothing for about a week. Also today my bump looks smaller. Should I be worried?

I had a similar concern and got lots of reassurance on here. I felt my first fluttering on Xmas Eve (21 weeks) and got proper little kicks a week later. My sister felt her babies at 21 and 23 weeks and a friend was 25 weeks. I know its hard to worry but my midwife said first time mums usually feel first movements between 20-24 weeks.Plus my bump looks different from day to day depending on where baby is lying (even then my bump is very small).

20 weeks is still very early to feel much with your first baby. They are still so small that there is plenty of space and they are able to 'hide'.
Bumps seem to change shape frequently.

Thank you that's really reassuring.

I'm 19+1, and some days I feel the baby quite a bit, then others not so much. He/she also seems to pick funny moments to kick, like when I'm walking the dogs. I think sometimes they can move around and kick into your body instead of towards the outside.

I find that my bump (which is tiny) starts off smaller in the morning, but gets a bit bigger throughout the day. I can't wait to have a lovely big bump x

I was definitely 21 weeks or more before I felt anything that was definitely a baby movement - I have an anterior placenta, which apparently cushions kicks, so was always going to feel later than women with different placements. Anyway, am now 30 weeks, and the baby is alternately squirming about in a ticklish manner and doing violent starjumps.

I felt my first movement at 20+6 and for the first few days I wasn't sure if it was a kick or not (also having my first). Don't worry they will come eventually. I got my first one when I laid really still on my back for about half an hour hands on tummy after eating 2 ice pops Smile not sure if it was the ice pop that got him moving but it's worth a try hey Smile

Fab thanks I will give it a go, good excuse to send DH out to buy ice pops anyway Wink
