Are private scans worth it?

Expecting DC4 late April/early Mat when DC1 will be 5+3months, would love him to come to a scan and see the baby but didn't want to take him out of school for the 20wk one.

To anyone who has taken their children to a scan - did they enjoy it? and is itworth the money? (have found a couple who will do a basic package for under £100)

And does anyone have any recommendations for scanning places in the Nottingham/Newark/Lincoln area?

Thank you

I loved my private scans don't have any other children but a friend took her DS (3) to both scans and he loved it when he talks about mummy having a baby in her tummy he tells us how his little brother moves about and has got arms and legs etc seems very real for him. With both my scans i got a dvd and took it home for my niece (almost 5) to watch and her first reaction was it's a real baby!! think she was picturing a bean in there and it suddenly hit her it's a real baby that moves and thinks.

I used babybond but don't know if theres one need you.

I loved my private 4d scan, I had it very recently at 25 weeks with babybond. The dvd is amazing! This is my first so no idea about taking kids with you, but in the babybond place there were two couches in the room so plenty of space for you to take family.

So thats 2 :) votes for babybond, but no-one knows about older kids - although I've just had a 'duh' moment about getting a DVD for them to watch at home!

You can deff take kids into babybond with you you have the check the number but in Glasgow they have an arm chair for your partner and a 3 seater so you can bring 3 people they have toys and things in the room, basically your paying you can bring who you like it's your time.

My friend took her DD7 and DD5 to a 4D scan and they enjoyed it. Not sure if I would bother with a black and White one though. Or if u don't want to take them have one get it recorded onto DVD - most places do that and then you can watch it will them at home, and turn it off if they don't show interest

Had private scans with both of mine because I'm an older Mum. Helpful to have dating scans out of work hours. DS1 came to one but it was an NHS one. DH had a job to stop him fiddling with the equipment but then he was just 2! Both my private scans were very prompt so hopefully you won't have to hang around.

Yes but for medical reasons (better quality machine, could time appointments round work/ right dates ).

I will resist saying anything about the massive inappropriateness of using what is meant to be for medical reasons being something "fun " for kids as my views are influenced by having had bad news. Therefore I have not taken dd along.

And also the view of the baby can be very hit and miss (have had ordinary 3d and 4d) as if baby moving or in wrong position you may be paying out to see nothing. Photos or a DVD and a book about new babies probably money better spent.
