I've just found out I'm pregnant with DC2 Grin

But...

I am on a temporary contract at work, which is going to be made permanent at the start of the new financial year (budget issues).

Clearly, if I tell my boss I'm pregnant, there's no way they will renew my contract and I'll end up out of work at the end of March, which would be a nightmare, financially.

So, does anyone have any tips for keeping this quiet? I'm going to be about 16 weeks by the time I can spill the beans, I could have a decent bump by then!

Argh. I am so happy but it's really really not as easy as last time. Sad

Some employment bods will be along in a bit but i would keep schtum. You dont need to tell them until you are 15 weeks away from starting Mat Leave although-i was a bloater by 16 weeks

Congratulations Smile

Loose fitting clothes, jackets and scarves!

Firstly congratulations on your pregnancy.

I too am having DC2 and started showing around 16/18 weeks, I also have a high BMI and as a big girl I don't wear anything tight fitting. Anyway no-one who did not know I was pregnant could tell so don't panic too much. I would suggest getting lots of empire line tops and loose trousers. You don't have to officially inform them until 25 weeks and legally decisions to make a contract permanent should not take pregnancy into consideration however I agree with you I wouldn't tell either until I had my permanent contract in my hand.

Good Luck

Congratulations! I managed to keep it secret up to 17 weeks (first time) and 12 weeks - second time nobody could see anything til about 18 weeks but I was so blardy happy I couldn't keep schtum. First time was similar to your situation - I was on probabtion for a new job. Hardest thing is keeping the sickness thing under wraps. I'm sure you can do it - good luck Smile.

Luckily leggings/ tunics are okay for workwear so start wearing them now as if they are your signature style - might be a bit obvious if you start in fitted waists then bring out the stretch jersey in a couple of months.

I am 16 weeks now and haven't told work yet! Blush

I guess it will depend on how much your bump shows by then and if you have any other symptoms which make it obvious.

I am lucky as I can work from home, so I am not observed as much IYSWIM?

I guess just wear loose-fitting clothes if you can, that aren't obviously maternity clothes?

Good luck!

My neighbour kept it a secret until she was past 20 weeks. I could tell because I knew, but otherwise it was not obvious. She did have to stoop a bit the last week or so.

Depends a bit on your figure and your clothing taste. If you normally wear streamlined fitted clothes, it might be tricky.

Well I'm not a skinny minnie so that's a good start Grin

I'm just worried that if I am as sick as last time, it will all be too obvious.

How did you all get round MW appointments? I've got one on Friday and am going to have to make up some other story.

When I was pregnant with DD my boss was my best friend; she was the first person I told and all my friends knew by 8 weeks when I had an early scan.

I just feel a bit Sad that I have to hide this one and can't be excited about it!

Really worried about when the sickness kicks in....

You'll be fine. When I was expecting DC3, I didn't let on to work until I was 16 weeks. No one suspected. I just said I had a medical appointment to attend for the scan etc - no one questioned it.

I would go for maternity trousers sooner rather than later - non-maternity ones tend to create much more visible bulges! Also, start dropping hints already that you seriously pigged out over Christmas, along with wearing floppier tops :)
