Anyone 24wks+ and still happily enjoying the gym? When did you stop?

Im 24+3, and still at the gym quite regularly - Zumba classes, aerobics, swimming, etc.

Im a trained fitness instructor (casual/supply), but stopped teaching when I was suffering horrendous morning sickness.

I stopped doing combat classes as even though its technically non-contact, theres no accounting for other peoples stray feet. Grin

Anyone else out there still active?
If not, when did you stop?

I was still in the gym until a week or so before each of my 3 babies arrived, but would stress that (a) they were all early (the latest was 36 weeks) so I wasn't too big and (b) I did adjust what I did and didn't do masses of cardio later on. As you are a pro, I'd say you'll be there for a while yet!

22 weeks here and still going to spin classes, body pump and swimming. I try to fit in one of each a week. Must admit its getting harder now. Sometimes feel like I'm pedalling backwards at spin but I'm fine with body pump. Obviously I have to modify some of the exercises so I'm not lying on my back and I don't do the abs work at the end (I do my pelvic floor exercises instead!)

I'll keep it up until I feel its too much for me. I'm hoping I'll be fine up until I hit the 8 month mark, then I think I'll stop doing classes and stick to swimming and light weights on my own. This is number 3 for me and I know if I can maintain fitness as much as possible throughout pregnancy, it makes it so much easier afterwards. I've got such a sweet tooth as well so I really need to.

I am feeling a bit self conscious now though which will probably stop me before my ability does!

Very impressed by the spinning action. Don't gym it myself but was a keen runner before pregnancy. I carried on until 8 weeks, and I was just too tired to do anything like running so I balanced it by walking to work. At 16w 3d just tried a first tentative run, as I'm still tired but generally feeling a bit perkier. I was sooooo slow but it was great to get my lungs going again and I feel much more like me old self.

I was a bit nervous tho, worrying about whether I was overheating (made sure I didn't break into a big sweat) and generally concerned about bouncing up and down too much - even though I was going stupidly slow -are these legit worries?

Starting the pregnancy bikram series on Friday once a week (they don't push the temperature up to stupid degrees) and just bought some 3kg weights to do a bit of light free weights work. Really want to keep a bit of fitness going but I'm not pushing myself, particularly since I've had a 2 month break (my fitness level was quite high though so hopefully I will be able to carry on for a bit longer).

I went to the gym every morning before work right up until 33 weeks, at which point I got carted off in an ambulance Blush.

I had pre-eclampsia though so it was a bit more complicated.

You're the fitness instructor... as long as your BPM isn't getting too high and you aren't getting overheated then I think you will be ok for as long as you feel comfortable. You should probably go and see your GP though and check.

Of course, I'm aware of what I should/shouldn't be doing, and know my limits. Smile

However, it occurred to me today that I've never seen another pregnant lady at my gym, ever. Nor have I had anyone noticeably pregnant at any of my classes.

Often threads on here are what women feel they cant do anymore, I guess I was just interested! Grin

Oooh good thread :o ibm a keen runner and gym goer, but haven't been since I get my BFP due to bleeding, which was all cleared by GP, but now I don't know where to start again (am around 9+2 I think) But good to read there are others out there :) although I've never seen a pg lady in my gym either...

I went up to 34 weeks - only a low impact class plus treadmill and free weights, then gym membership ran out and it got too hot (summer baby) so took up swimming instead, right up to 2 days before birth. The only thing I stopped was martial arts and only for the stray kick aspect.
Alas my gym- going pretty much stopped there, apart from a brief flirtation with kick boxing, but I now keep fit by running for trains in order to make school pick up, usually with a heavy laptop bag to increase resistance.Smile

I'm 40+5 and still going to the gym, was there just yesterday! Everyone tells me I'm mad but I've had the easiest pregnancy ever and definitely think keeping active helped. During a couple of weeks when I was really busy at work and could not get to the gym I found I was starting to get slight back ache and feel a bit crap moodwise but as soon as I got back to the gym I was much better :)

Obviously I have adapted my workout throughout my pregnancy and do not do anywhere near as much cardio as I used to but I have been going to the gym for years and my midwife and trainer at gym said it was fine to carry on so I have even though some people I know really do not approve!
I do feel a bit self conscious now as I am ready to pop but it amuses me to see the look of horror on the young (male) trainers face when I walk through the door. He is clearly terrified I am going to go into labour on his shift :o

Hi! I'm also a fitness instructor and have struggled due to morning sickness and various viruses. I'm 22 weeks.
Whilst i know that the gym is safe and I know my limits, after training other people I'm so knackered that I can't face training myself.
I'm thinking of giving up the work so I can concentrate on my fitness and health for a change. I also feel very fat and unfit, which I find embarrassing in a gym where people know me as a fitness instructor.
I do still cycle (as I live in Holland and you have to cycle!)
Not very helpful but at least you know there are others worrying about the same things!
