Can't find a home for it on products and thought I'd canvas any current users out there.
Would like to use washable ones, but the only ones I can see many reviews on are the Avent ones, and the reviews generally aren't favourable...
Any other brands out there worth trying, or are they all similar?
Particularly intrigued by Lilypadz but just not sure about those. Again, very few reviews.

I used washable ones during pregnancy (avent and lanisoh brand) and rheu were fine, but once milk had come in I was just too leaky and had to switch to disposable ones (lanisoh brand seemed best) as
Needed more absorbancy.

My S-I-L used Lilypadz and said they were great, but I felt they didnt aeem very breathable and was worried about thrush/nipples being too moist sonI didn't want to use them. I think it depends on how leaky you are and how expreimental you are feeling!

I used these, they were brilliant, and you get lots of pretty colour options.

Love love love my Lanowool ones. Google for websites selling them. Soft, comfy, a treat to wear.

whostolemyname · 30/12/2011 18:58

I had boots own brand ones which i found very good and washed well.

I used the Avent ones with no probs, but didnt try them until DS was about 6m old so cant comment on how they'd deal with the copious milk early on!

Thank you all! Reviews still welcome so, keep 'em coming if you feel you have anything to add.
I have lansinoh disposables for the ofset. No signs of any real milk coming through yet (37wks), so it's not like I have any leakage to test anything with.

Just make sure whatever brand you choose, you wash them in the little string bags, as I've bunged up my washing machine at great expense when one fell apart in the wash Xmas Smile

Good tip! I plan on doing the real nappy route, as well as washing my bras in bags, so have many net bags...thank you!

I leaked like a great squirty thing for months and the Lilipadz and other washable pads I tried couldn't cope with a big squirt - I'd be soggy within a minute.
The disposables coped better, particularly Lansinoh and Tommy Tippee - ones without sticky backs (Tsco/Sains own brand) kept sliding away from where they were needed.

Apparently my amount of leakiness certainly after a month was unusual, though.

I got bamboo ones online, they were great, I was v leaky and went through far too many disposables it was costing a fortune. Highly recommend washable ones don't think the ones I had were branded.

Eglu · 30/12/2011 21:46

I have little lamb bamboo ones here. THey are great. Nice and thin so don't show through clothes. I found Avent ones really obvious through clothes.

The little lamb ones also have a waterproof inner layer. They are also very soft.

Eglu · 30/12/2011 21:47

Just realised looking at their website that they now do them in two sizes and in black. Might order some black ones.

stickyLFDTfingers · 30/12/2011 21:53

I found in the early days with DD1 only the disposables would do the job, and they needed changing frequently. So from that I would recommend buying one box of disposables then switching to washables. I used Avent and thought they were fine.

Oeisha · 30/12/2011 21:54

Oooh, those look interesting eglu. I assume a cool non-bio wash? I suppose

I'd better ask about approximate numbers too....how many have people gone for?

Thank you to all the 'since' posters too!

I wouldn't recommend tommee tippee or avent ones - I thought they were uncomfortable and couldn't cope at all with my let down reflex. I now use them as mini loofahs Grin. I used lasinoh disposables in the end cos they were the only thing that stopped me from dripping in milk.

FestiveFriedaWassailsAgain · 30/12/2011 22:00

We used washable nappies and I wanted to use washable breastpads - but I had Avent and they were hopeless for me - leaked around the edge so a dry circle over the nipple area then a big wet circle like a target all around Blush

Didn't get on with Lilypadz either - only tried them a couple of times and gave up. Ended up using disposables - Johnsons mainly.

Eglu · 30/12/2011 22:24

I just stick them in the normal wash 40 degrees. I got 20 which was fine for me. I have 3 dc now though and wash every day. I do use a mix of washables and disposable though.
