Thinking about the lovely bottle of red wine in the cupboard a little bit too much. I'm 21 weeks pregnant and have barely had a couple of glasses of wine since I fell pregnant. This is my third, so wild nights out haven't really been a feature of my life for a looooong time.

I'm thinking I could have a glass of red with lunch around 4pm and then maybe another glass at about 8pm before conking out on the sofa with a movie. At least there's an excuse for having an enormous tummy! I'm bypassing the champagne at breakfast so I can have 2 glasses of wine later on the day. I've not had any other alcohol in the week as I've been saving up.....

What do you think?

I'm with you OP, though planning to stick to champagne, two glasses.

I went to a wine-tasting the other week, tried 12 different wines - total volume no more than one glass, tiny sips. My notes were definitely more coherent than others', there are advantages I suppose!

Not sure. DH has made mulled cider jelly and that'll be alcoholic, I suppose. Am slightly touchy about the whole thing after Mum visited and I had the tiniest gin, elderflower and tonic (much less than a normal shot of gin) and about a third of a small glass of white wine, which started to taste bitter to me after the first few sips, hence why I didn't finish it. Mum then told my sister that she was worried about me drinking during pg! I had hardly drunk anything.

Also, one glass just makes me want more...or else I find it tastes funny and I can't drink it. It's not through a fear of harming Bean, or at least not consciously.

Tbh - i might have a sip of dh but dont really miss it. Have gone off idea and wine smells funny to me now (same thing happened last time - strangely didn't feel that smelled funny after dd was born).

I'm coming up to 21 weeks and I'm just planning on staying on the soft stuff - as it is I'm driving to mother-in-law's and I'm a total lightweight when not updiffed so it's easier just to abstain completely.

This does not stop me reeeeally fancying a lovely G&T, though. Have told Husband that if he fancies getting me a 'push present' then I'd be most happy with a cheeseboard and a G&T. Om nom!

I'm 28 weeks and had a really rough pregnancy so I am planning to have a couple of spritzers today. Haven't touch a drop since I found out I was pregnant. Got myself one of those mini bottles of wine tho so i'm not tempted to drink anymore!

Had glass of champers this morning and will have a glass of wine with dinner.. Have had glass of wine on special occasions during the pregnancy.. No guilt whatsoever, thoroughly enjoyed Smile

18 weeks today and having a late dinner (DP has just started cooking dinner), but just had a couple of paracetamol because I've had a headache all afternoon. Think will have to delay my planned glass of wine spritzer until later. Or tomorrow... :P

I'm 9 weeks and had 2 glasses of champagne yesterday. Bloody loved it and no guilt! Most I've had in over 3 months so I figure I'm allowed!

PrincessClementine · 26/12/2011 21:12

Am 13 weeks and enjoyed a glass of red yesterday with lunch and another this evening with a cheese dinner. Lovely! Probably it now for a while, but felt no guilt!

i had been in france before pregers and brough back 250 quids worth of lovely wine for christmas, not complaining but i am watching everyone else drink it! I don't fancy wine but like to try each bottle with a little sip... so now i think i have my other halfs horrid cold from trying his glass each time he reached for a new wine.. and should probably just have had a glass and not given him a chirstmas kiss... maybe it won't develop! Anway, I seem to really fancy bitter (yuck) tried some badgers thingy also and it was divine but really strong so just ignored the craving! happy slurping.

26 weeks and not an abstainer so was looking forward to my glass of wine...

Poured it, sipped it and retched. Not impressed with my body Grin

I had a glass of bubbles on Christmas day and I paid for it on Boxing day. xx

buonasera · 28/12/2011 13:55

I had a glass of decent red on Christmas Eve, and a glass of champagne on the day. Very nice, and I found I had to drink incredibly slowly not to feel wasted so both times it lasted me a few hours. Didn't drink at all in the first trimester but in the last couple of weeks I've found that wine tastes nice again so I'm happy to go for the odd small glass... being (touch wood) only halfway through, I don't want to totally abstemious and get any more bored of being pregnant than I already am. And I am.

dreamc1 · 28/12/2011 18:08

Have had the odd tiny glass of wine, and a few small glasses of bucks fizz, which is only 4%. Twas loverly
