I am 4m with DC2. Last time I was pg I was spotty in the first trimester, then had dry but clear skin for the rest of the pg.

This time I was spotty and blotchy but thought nothing of it, however now I am well into 2nd tri and my skin is AWFUL. Dry, which I can deal with, but horrible blotches, not really spots, all round my mouth and chin and cheeks. It doesn't itch and isn't sore, it just looks horrible and I've had to start wearing makeup because it's so bad.

Anyone had similar? can you reassure me it'll go away after the pg? I am lucky to have decent skin normally and don't like wearing makeup. I know bad skin isn't the end of the world but I'm not very pretty and my skin is my "thing"! It is getting me down a bit tbh.

I use olive oil to take makeup off, then Dove or Philosophy Purity and a Clarisonic to cleanse, rosewater and then Eucerin and/or BioOil to moisturise. This is the only regime that keeps my eczema under control! the foundation I'm using is a mineral powder (Lily Lolo).

If anyone can help I will be eternally grateful!

Go to your GP. Just because you're pregnant there is no reason why you should have to put up with conditions like this.

Hope it improves.

Blimey, I suppose maybe I ought to. I'll perhaps ask the pharmacist first and see if they can suggest anything and then progress to the dreaded doctor's appointment! The GPs at my surgery are very good, it's just the whole hassle of trying to get an appointment that I can actually go to without having to take time off work or arrange childcare :)

I completely sympathise. Sounds exactly like mine. Dry patches round nose and red blotches all over cheeks and chin - not spots. I did read that pregnant skin is very slow to heal which I don't think helps. Am having to cake on the make up to try and cover it up too. My GP was unfortunately useless - just saying 'its part of pregnancy'. Please let me know if you have any success! In the meantime you are not alone in the blotchy stakes! x
