Third trimester and so far this week I have cried because:

I looked at a photo of a cat
We ran out of soup
I had to walk fast to a meeting
My custard was too runny
No clean cups in cupboard
Drying had not dried overnight
Soup gave me ingestion
Indigestion

I am not safe to be around right now as my face leaks at the slightest thing.

Tell me it's normal...

It's normal. I sat on the floor staring at my two month old niece and cried because mine is still "in hiding". Felt like kidmapping her just until mine is born just to tie me over until February :o

kdiddy · 21/12/2011 11:08

I don't know if it's normal Xmas Wink ... but I am with you all the way. I haven't been too bad up until this week (36+3 now)

I have cried because

  • It was too dark in the morning
  • I couldn't eat all of my dinner
  • I didn't know what I wanted for dinner
  • My DH was too busy to help me sort out the bank account immediately
  • Buddy in Elf didn't realise he was really a human
  • Channel 4 isn't showing the Snowman on Christmas Eve like it usually does. It's at 2.30pm on Christmas Day which means I'm going to miss it because we'll be having dinner by then.

THEN knowing I was in this mood of late, I watched Noel's Christmas Presents. Big mistake. I obviously have some sort of hormonal desire to MAKE myself cry now Hmm

guinealady · 21/12/2011 11:17

Lordy...I'm 23 weeks and at the moment just cry over things that usually make me cry, but just more than usual - hearing Tim Minchin's 'White Wine in the Sun' for the first time this Christmas, always makes my eyes water but this time, knowing we'll have a baby by next Christmas, I was sobbing my eyes out.

Then I heard 'Our House' by Madness, (while on a car journey with family) had had to bite my lip furiously when it came to the line about Mum seeing the kids off to school, 'she's the one they're going to miss/in lots of ways'.

Finally whenever I hear 'In My Life' by the Beatles I always think of my granny and have a good cry...and it's been on the radio a lot this Christmas. Can I make it through to New Year without any more waterworks...I doubt it!

Listzilla · 21/12/2011 11:32

This thread is making me cry.

Along with everything else that happens to me.

It's perfectly normal! But if you think this is bad, wait till three days after the baby's born - you'll feel all nostalgic for when you were pregnant and occasionally didn't cry!

Yummymummyyobe1 · 21/12/2011 14:10

Highly normal

I cried the other night because I felt like a whale at 21 weeks and then DP cuddled me and I felt naughty ;)

xx

VikingLady · 21/12/2011 20:30

Cried in the library yesterday flicking through a kids book where an owl's friends do Christmas for him, because he'd been too busy helping them to have time to do his own. So embarrassing...

blackoutthexmaslights · 21/12/2011 20:33

yes its normal

i remember crying in a coffee shop once because the mug was the 'wrong' colour. Blush

guinealady · 22/12/2011 08:16

Watched carol singers in Trafalgar Square last night & had another sniffle...

TopazMortmain · 22/12/2011 08:33

Thanks everyone. Glad that it's normal but sorry that we're all weeping everywhere Xmas Smile

I just cried at a really stupid YouTube video of shoppers in an American mall looking all happy about Christmas...

I can only hope it does not get worse Xmas Blush

You're lucky. I wasn't a crier when I was pg, DH might have understood that. I got rage. About everything.
My "proudest" moment was when DH said that a pan wouldn't fit in the dishwasher (it wouldn't, I just couldn't be arsed to wash it). I threw every last bit of everything that was in the dishwasher at him. For no reason. Then we couldn't have tea because I'd smashed all the plates. That made me very angry too :) I then had to drive to Ikea to replace all our crockery. FGS.

TopazMortmain · 22/12/2011 11:38

Omg Jennifer that sounds awful! To be fair I am a wee bit grumpy too but that too results in the crying.

Hormones...Blush

Just almost (yay! Almost!) cried because I there are feet in my stomach and no room for food. Never thought I would be typing that.

I was in supervision today with my boss and my dad walked in (he is owner of company but we have a good work relationship) and I suddenly realised that he will be the Grandad to my baby and I started crying right there, right then infront of everyone!! No one even knows I am pregnant yet!! It's mad.

TopazMortmain · 22/12/2011 12:08

Lol at frilly

How did you explain that? Grin

OP posts:
0FrillyKnickers0 · 22/12/2011 13:15

I realised it was going to happen so I prentended to sneeze and blamed watery eyes on that!! I only found out today!

Florin · 22/12/2011 14:03

Oh the tears.
I cried as I felt sorry for the baby missing out on Christmas this year (I am only 14 weeks pregnant-so really don't want the baby to come out yet) I feel sorry for it missing out on the fun this year
I cried watching a channel 5 Christmas film called first Christmas it was about them making new Christmas traditions together realised next year we will be a family and starting our own Christmas traditions
My twin sister has just had her 12 week scan and the idea of seeing the 2 little babies growing up together and being so close in age makes me tearful too it's going to be so lovely
Cried several times over not knowing what to buy for Christmas presents
Get really cross too sometimes, poor dh takes the brunt of it all. The poor man deserves a medal!

VeronicaSpeedwell · 22/12/2011 14:08

Xmas Grin frilly. And congratulations!

These are brilliant, I especially like the happy shoppers, Topaz.

I have been weeping all over the place, but only over schmaltz. The video of Boney M's Mary's Boy Child on YouTube set me off, especially the line 'in a manger cold and dark Mary's little boy was born'. Tears rolled down my face at that. DH thought it was hilarious, and has replayed it endlessly to laugh at the effect.

I shed a few more when the vicar's wife on Rev told him she was pregnant in the Christmas episode. Then as DH and I were driving to work, I was talking about how in school carol concerts the choir always sing the descant to Hark the Herald, often quite badly. I couldn't make it to the end of my point, because my voice cracked at the very thought of it and I could feel my eyes pricking Blush.

duvetfan · 22/12/2011 21:39

JenniferYellowHatsRedLingerie I understand totally. Whilst I haven't thrown anything or been too annoyed with DH, my road rage is awful. I also want to hit people who get in my way whilst Christmas shopping. Amazon has stopped me from committing GBH. I have been feeling like such a bad person plus I know it can't be good for the baby. Hope it goes away soon. Blush

JenniferYellowHatsRedLingerie · 23/12/2011 00:02

Oh, I did forget to mention that not one freaking bit of all my cups, plates, cutlery and pans hit him. NOT ONE BIT!

I can laugh now. But only just Blush

MaMattoo · 23/12/2011 00:28

It's perfectly normal! Wallow in it Grin I cried ( full on red nose, snot, fat tears, blotchy face) by reading the metro in the tube to work. The article was about a state bird being spotted in someone's back garden!!!! Bah!

0FrillyKnickers0 · 23/12/2011 07:34

Xmas Grin @ MaMattoo...hilarious!

TopazMortmain · 23/12/2011 09:07

mamatoo Grin

WTF is a state bird? Smile

OP posts:
MiauMau · 23/12/2011 10:16

I must confess that it felt wrong to cry more over my 17 year old cat's death than my grandmother's. Even the left over cat food at my parent's made my bottom lip wobble Confused

MaMattoo · 23/12/2011 19:20

TopazMortmain State should have a capital S = National Bird, Symbolic of nationalism, pride etc etc..not even remotely sad or worth crying over (unless out of boredom!). It was miles away from home and rare bird to spot etc etc.

Needless to say I bawled...and reached work looking very worrying...!
