40wks today and this is the last thing I expected to feel - moan alert!

I can't believe I hit 40wks today and for the first time in almost 3 weeks I don't want the baby to arrive yet - and all because I have developed a stinking cold! I thought it was just a bit of blocked sinuses as it was yesterday but today I've woken up with a sore throat and I'm getting wheezy (I have asthma too which plays up if I get anything like this). Will be so fed up to go into labour not being able to breathe properly and puffing on my ventolin. Thankfully pregnancy wise I still feel relatively comfortable and therefore don't think labour is coming anytime soon but you just never know. Moan over, have a good day everyone.

Sorry you are feeling so shit. Baby may still be a few days yet and give time for cold to ease up. Also not sure if old wives tale but have heard that labour can be delayed if sickly like this (may well be crap tho).

Are you sure you can't take your inhaler? I would ask dr/MW as would have thought benefits to you at this stage would outweigh risk (if any) to baby.

I am taking my inhaler, I have a daily one I take in the morning and I've had some ventolin already this morning, would just prefer not to be relying on it in labour, it's just one more thing to think about. I haven't been told not to take it so I am.
Hope the old wives tale is true, I've felt lovely and positive all the way through the pregnancy and am looking forward to giving birth, I'm just a grumpy bugger when I'm all flued up. Plus my usual "medicine" for this type of ailment (crumpets and tea) is off limits because one gives me chronic acid and the other I haven't touched in months as it makes me want to barf.
Told you I was a grumpy old mare when I'm like this :)

Would chocolate biscuits do as a substitute for crumpets?Smile i think 40 weeks is a crap time as you are ready to go by then - its never helped by people enquiring about baby arrival or the "enjoy the peace while it lasts comment."

Am grumpy with you- only 35 weeks with dd2 but feeling sick again, baby breech and can't move due to bad pelvic pain (so all the helpful tips on exercises to move baby not really useful).

Lol well I've had so far this morning my usual breakfast of a banana, orange juice and branflakes, then I've had 2 slices of buttered toast with marmalade and then my niece, who had asked for cereal for breakfast, declared that she didn't want it because "it takes too long to eat" Angry so I ended up eating that too as couldn't bear to throw it all away - I also lack patience when I'm grumpy :) I love having them here (they arrived on Monday, go home on 29th) but think my tolerance levels will be low today.
I really thank my lucky stars that I've not suffered physically with my pregnancy, PGP is the worst (have suffered with it a few years back due to my weight), must be so hard for you with another child to look after as well. Does a birthing ball help you? My SIL had bad SPD but was told to avoid birthing balls because she had 1 side worse than the other Confused?
