It's not the first time. I used to do it during uni holidays when I was studying hard. I also did it towards the end of my last pregnancy. It starts off heartburn related and continues because I am aching and don't want to lie down. I don't get to sleep until 2am, awake again at five - could happily sleep in until 10 everyday.

But I have a toddler who gets up early so it's not working this time. I sleep in the day when he does, but it's just not enough. And then I end up not coping. I am 38 1/2 weeks now and the thought of a potential 3 1/2 weeks of this is not fun.

Anyone els out there in the same boat?!

A similar story here although I don't have a toddler to add to the mix. I don't know how you manage! I'm struggling and this is first pregnancy. Went to sleep at 12am, woke at 2.30am and been kept awake by blocked nose, SPD and heartburn. On the plus side only 9 days till EDDGrin

I've got a pretty nice husband even if I am ghastly to him at the moment. I hate being needy.

Is your EDD 29th? Mine too. Bring it on.

Yes 29th for me tooSmile although just had growth scan and estimated weight is 9lb2. I am rather scared now...

I have this starting now at 28 weeks, waking up at 6am after struggling to get comfortable and sleep in the first place. Hoping it is a stage that will end soon or it is going to be a long 12 weeks!

DeeOfTheNorthPole · 20/12/2011 16:20

My usual pattern is sleep at 10 or 11pm. Wake at some point between 3 and 4am. back to sleep around 6. up at 7 or 8. then a big snooze during the day. I'm 37+3....wish i could just have one big sleep. Don't know how I would manage if you threw a toddler into the mix....!

I have a sleep disorder called delayed sleep phase syndrome (google DSPS) its actually fairly common but underdiagnosed, it got sooo much worse during pregnacy, sleeping from 6am to 2pm.

TTC#2 now, not sure how i'll cope when i do get pregnant as DD wakes up at 6.30am, mmm 30mins sleep a day :(

My advice is nap whenever you can during the day, and don't feel guilty for having a lie in.

Coldcuppacoffee · 21/12/2011 01:59

Blimey, Piggyboo, that's a tough one.

Pretty tired today, trying to avoid just sticking on a DVD and letting DS do nothing all the time. We should have gone out while the sun was shining. Slept when he did this afternoon, which helped but am wide awake again now (booooring!).

Hurry up baby!

I get to sleep fine but then awake at half 1 wide awake. Cue loads of stressing about every tiny thing (tonights stress is my 37 week bump is hard and uncomfortable at night) then I have to get up and google.

Similar here. My natural bedtime before having DC1 was 1-2am & since being pregnant with DC2 it has gone later too, except that I can't actually sleep like that having to look after DC1. I've not been sleeping much more that an hour-hour and a half at a time & if I do get a nap in the day can only manage 20-30mins for some reason yet I am desperate for sleep! The only consolation is that at least when baby arrives I will be better off even it still massively sleep-deprived.
