My mum is convinced this baby is going to be early here are her reasons

  • i'm huge
  • getting lots of pressure in the tummy from baby moving
  • tummy is getting tight all the time
  • babys movements are starting to get sore
  • starting to get very very tired but can't sleep for no reason

She says these are all last few weeks type things am due in 5 weeks but she is betting will go in 3... so is she taking rubbish or on to something?? what do we think?

I'm 27+2 with my my 5th and have a large bump already, get braxton hicks a lot, movements have been hurting for a couple of weeks and I'm also exhausted so if your mum's right then I should also deliver soon Xmas Wink. Seriously though, no, there isn't anything in that. It's just what happens and doesn't indicate that you'll have the baby early so don't worry.

kiki22 · 19/12/2011 18:46

oh god another 5 weeks of this :( boo lol

She also figures coz i was 3 weeks early and DP was 2 weeks bubs will be... think she just really wants to meet her grandson the big softie

There's no telling.

I had all that with DS1, and he was 2 weeks late. Sad

ginmakesitallok · 19/12/2011 18:54

Well if your due date is in 5 weeks time baby should arrive between 3 and 7 weeks time (2 weeks either side) - so your Mum could be right. Though I think folk are generally bigger earlier with 2nd DC. I don't see how DPs birth could have any bearing on things though Confused

ATruthFestivelyAcknowledged · 19/12/2011 18:59

My mum said the same. DS was 16 days late. Sorry!

pixie04 · 19/12/2011 19:02

5 weeks ago no one thought I could get bigger, I did. Although I still don't feel huge, I think I've still got some stretch left in me.

I've had all the same signs as your mums reasons but am 40 weeks now, baby didn't come early.

To be fair though, mums sometimes have an instinct about these things and if you are close she could be right. 38 weeks is term so you'd prob be safe if you did deliver then. X

If your mum was early with you and DP was also early then it is not inconceivable that your baby could be early too. Just make sure that bag is packed!

stuffthenonsense · 20/12/2011 15:17

my midwife has recommended 1000mcg evening primrose oil capsules x3 per day from 34 weeks, and raspberry leaf tea x1 cup per day at 34w, x2 at 35w, x3 at 36w then x4 cups at 37w til birth......really really hope it works.

kiki22 · 20/12/2011 15:28

where do i buy raspberry leaf tea lol

i am seriously going to try that :)

Just a note - RLT doesn't help with anything other than toning the uterine muscles, I drank gallons and went to 42+2 and still had an atonic uterus (too tired to contract on its own)

kiki22 · 20/12/2011 16:01

aww fliss u've broke my heart telling me that lol

OP posts:
dreamfeeder · 20/12/2011 16:10

hmm, I thought RLT wasn't meant to actually start labour but speed up second stage? I had a 20+ hour first stage, then 15-20 minute second stage, which I thought was meant to be RLT's effect? (i did drink RLT)Am I wrong?! and they sell it in Holland and Barratt and health food shops like that.

I am quite small and was 'all bump' but assive (as people never stopped telling me) but went to 40+2 then my waters broke but I didn't go into labour- sorry!

Flisspaps · 20/12/2011 18:32

Shall I not mention my 2 hour second stage and eventual forceps delivery then...Wink the shorter second stage is down to the toned uterine muscles, but it's not guaranteed to make ANY difference. Doesn't hurt to try though, if nothing else you'll be well hydrated and capsules are meant to be more effective than tea Smile

dreamfeeder · 20/12/2011 20:05

Oh, flisspaps, there went my hope!! Good job I'm likely to have a CS :-) the 3 things I didn't want for labour were induction, forceps, and a third or fourth degree tear... I got 2 out of 3 but avoided the forceps, ouch!! (3rd degree tear was ouch enough!)
