I'm having an elective c/s on the 30th, Cons says I will be allowed out the next day if I'm "up and about" and as long as all is ok, the fact it will be NYE, they like to get everyone home if they can Hmm . Previous C/s have been emergency ones and I spent 5 nights (emcs 1) and 4 nights (emcs 2) the last times.

I'm nervous about this early discharge! Do they just want rid of me? It is baby#3 after all. Will someone come and see us and check that we are ok the next day?
I have a 6yr old and hyper 4yr old at home, and a very capable DH, but no other "help".

Would you stay in hospital another night or come out? I don't know what to do..

Hiya I had an unplanned, but not quite emergency c section last year 3 days before christmas, I delivered 4.30 pm and was told by consultant i could go home at 11am the next day. I managed to hold on to my bed till the evening, had a fine first 3 days recovery.

The problem came 6 days after delivery when I became extremely ill, it was a year ago today and I got DH to drive me back to postnatle, however they refused to re admit me, and told me to go to A&E. As it was christmas week there was a 6 hour wait, and I couldn't stick it, i was too ill so i just went home. I went on to be bad on and off for the next five months including two four day readmittences to gyne wards in jan and feb.

Really take care with what they tell you, i think some hospitals know better than others how crucial those first days after cs are. Also I would say to anyone to make damn sure that there is a proceedue for readmittance because a 6 hour wait in an a&e with a newborn in tow just isn't doable!
