I smell!

A bit embarrassing question: is this normal?

I am just come up to 22wk and I think I need to change underwear more than once a day! After mid-day, I can smell myself.
Slightly warring as I think my virgina smells alkaline. I sniffed the tissue but that was okay. Previous swap did not show any thing wrong. I am thinking of asking for another test, although also concerned if this could be dangous to the baby? I had no bleeding so far.

I am 23 weeks and also think that my odour has changed slightly too. I need to wash and change my clothes because of my nether regions more often too.

I found that my sense of smell increased during pregnancy.

It's probably just the hormones and quite natural I believe. My DH always complains that 'things' (i.e. color, shape, smell) are not what he's used to when I am pregnant. I would be more worried if there were any wierd discharge, blood staining or itching. If it's just an odor and you feel 'offensive' maybe wearing more deodorant/perfume or even pantyliners to keep 'fresh' might help ease your mind.

I wouldn't worry if the smell is not unpleasant and your swab was clear. I'm 33 weeks, and noticed too that I could smell myself when going to the loo - but also in 1st and 2nd trimesters my sense of smell was stronger, so I could smell everything!

Also loads of people on my ante-natal thread are saying they have found they are beginning to produce a lot more than usual in that area!!
Perhaps try panty liners to save your underwear?

Just my opinion, but I think there's generally no need to worry unless you notice a bad smell or coloured discharge, but ask at your check-up if only to ease your mind.

Hope that helps.

try taking acidophilus, its a probiotic that can help to keep your vagina acidic and ward off imbalances down there and keeps smells at bay

Thanks for all the reply. I think pantyliner might be a solution for now. Been using them recently, just don't want to ignore the smell. I'll also ask midwife next time (wk24) see her.
