Know this must be a very common thread but I'm going slowly mad! 40 plus 3 now and no sign... They were planning to induce me early so I've now had 2 sweeps! Was 2cm a week and a half ago and Dr expected him very soon but nothing! Sweep yesterday and midwife couldn't believe he is still in there cervix is so soft and he's so far down! Tried raspberry leaf tea, acupuncture, reflexology, pineapple, curry, walks and bouncing on my ball but he's just too cosy in there! Sooooo uncomfortable having a head wedged under your pelvis! Anyone else in the same boat? Xx

I'll consider a sweep if I get to 41+1 but really don't want the baby to come whilst I've got this cold, I somehow have to muster the energy to walk half a mile today to take my niece and nephew out to the local indoor play centre. At least once there I can sit and drink hot chocolate but the idea of going through labour whilst feeling this shitty really does not appeal. Thankfully I'm still physically comfortable.
DH didn't help this morning setting his alarm for 6.30am but then deciding to reset it to 7am AND THEN resetting it yet again till 9am - all because he was tired. I couldn't get back to sleep after the 7am alarm so got up, in a pretty foul mood. Tempted to sleep now but know if I do I won't sleep tonight plus we have to take the kids out, one of them is incredibly hyper if he doesn't expend some energy so will be more peaceful sat in a noisy playplace than stuck in the house with him pirouetting round the living room :) love him to bits :)

I'm alos 40 weeks today. No sign of anthing happening yet. Just spoken to the community MW and she said they don't even normally do sweeps here until 40+10 so have made an appointment for the 30th.

DH has now finished work for Xmas so at least I have someone to talk to during the day now - and I can get him started on the massive "to do" list that I've been compilling! Off to sort the kitchen cupboards today....

We've been ready for ages (I'm a bit of an organised freak like that) and my friend thinks that I'll go into labour on christmas day just because we're hosting for 9 people and DH is cooking so it'd really mess everything up. Plus DH doesn't want baby to come on xmas or boxing day because he loves christmas so much and doesn't want to change any of our plans with the family.

How are we all doing on this thread? 40+10 now for me, think i need Davina to come and do a loud big brother style eviction announcement, get her moving a bit...

Chortle! I do need to evict this baby! 40+11 here and no signs! Eviction proceedings to start tomorrow with a sweep. If cervix is unfavourable they'll start with the pessary and keep me in overnight. If nothing happens it will be the drip for me and hopefully a Christmas eve/day baby!

40 + 9 today and still no sign! The sweep I had on Tues produced a pathetic amount of blood/discharge afterwards, and not the huge globules I was promised (can't believe I actually WANT that to happen, ha ha!). Think I will put off induction until Boxing Day if I can get away with it when I will be 40 + 13. In the meantime, keeping a close eye on baby's movements (having a can of Coke helps if I want to jolt him into action!). So good to be able to share this with you guys - would go mad otherwise..

I'm 40+1 today but really happy for baby to stay put as have just been put on antibiotics for chest infection and sinusitis. I can't believe I have the most trouble free pregnancy ever and then get struck down with this! Thankfully am still quite comfortable physically (baby's head still hasn't engaged but then with my mum's 5 kids, no-one engaged until labour) so no bother for me to continue being pregnant.
Midwife told me today she'd come and see me at home at 41wks if baby hasn't come and book me in for induction at 41+5 but I don't have to have it that day, as long as I see the doctor and we can agree an alternate plan. The only issue I might have is that, although I was going to decline a sweep today, I wasn't offered one and the midwife said that she might not be able to do one next week either because of my high BMI. She is going to look into it and let me know next week. I don't want a sweep but I was prepared to let them do one to ascertain my bishop's score should I be heading towards induction. I'm going to put it to the back of my mind for now though, no sense worrying about it now.
Keeping fingers (and legs) crossed that baby doesn't decide to come whilst I'm still poorly, really would like to be in optimum health for the labour.

I'm seeing midwife tomorrow so hopefully she'll do another (third!) sweep, i'd rather have a sweep than induction although as time goes on i realise i may be left with no choice. I'm hoping it will be successful this time as i have been getting some crampy pains in my cervix and a bit of mucus (although no blood here either!).

Can of coke is perfect for getting the LO going isn't it?! Gets rid of my worries but I do find that baby is then hyperactive for hours (will be avoiding caffeine once she arrives i think!)

Hope some of you have managed to have your babies by now : ) I am due today and no sign of labour so now getting very worried about missing x-mas morning with my other children. As DH keeps reminding me, there is nothing we can do about when the baby decides to come......

Mine's happily still staying put, I'm 40+2 today. My ideal birth date would be 27th December onwards and have told baby so :)

Hello girls, I'm due on 27th so am 39+3 and am ready now, thankyew very much!: but had midwife check yesterday and told no dilatation and "not to expect anything soon" (she was very nice about it!)

Next appt not til 41+1 so no sweep opportunity even if I wanted to (had one at 40+2 last time and delivered at 41 weeks exactly).

Anyone else still waiting?

Sigh...

Saw midwife this morning, 3rd sweep not likely to be successful, baby has not grown at all in 4 weeks and is now back to back. So after a long chat with the midwives i've agreed to be induced tomorrow. I asked if we could hold out til 42 weeks (boxing day) but they said they were now quite concerned about baby, there is very little chance of labour starting naturally, and its in both our interests to get this baby out asap.

Felt very weepy to start with, but now relieved that this awful pregnancy will be over soon, and cannot wait to meet our little girl. Just a shame it's gonna be hospital food for christmas day!

Hope others are having more joy with imminent labour, and that it either holds off or gets going depending on what people want. See you on the other side... Smile

Oh gosh Grohlsgirl, good luck with the induction! Can I ask why they are concerned about the baby - is she still moving OK from your perspective?

Still no twinges for me and the hospital didn't even bother to phone me today to call me in for induction, even though they said they would. Pah.

Grohlsgirl fingers crossed that the induction goes well and you both are okay, I'm sorry labour didn't start on it's own :( .
Keep us updated x

Thanks everyone, i'm just really excited to know i'm gonna meet our LO v soon!

They are concerned because baby is measuring v small now, on 35cm which has remained static for almost 6 weeks. Even though they allow certain ranges for measurements they would still expect some growth if the placenta was functoning as well as it should so it indicates that things are starting to wear out a bit now, and they weren't prepared to risk it. Also i'm in so much pain from the position of baby that i'm likely to get v tired quickly. At 40+12 i think i'm officially ready for this pregnancy to be done with now!

Hope everyone has a fab Christmas and thanks so much for all the kind words and support Smile xx

How is everyone doing? My DD arrived at 9.38 this morning, was hoping to avoid a Christmas Day birthday for her but became clear by Christmas Eve afternoon that she had other ideas!
Forceps and episiotomy as she was OP and got stuck, so having to stay in overnight but glad for extra help with BF. My care during labour, in theatre and postnatally have been fab. Am one happy mummy! SmileSmileSmile
