Poor you- same stage here and when we have a day like that we have a dvd day and just try to not be up and about too much.

ems have you investigated the pains? Sounds like you might have pelvic girdle pain...a referal from you GP or MW couldl help you out loads. In some areas you can self-refer too.

Oh you poor thing, I can completely sympathise I have a 13m DS and sciatica which leaves me struggling to walk some days. Could you make an appointment with your mw and they could refer you to a physio or something? I've got an appointment Monday really hoping they can help.

Oeisha · 16/12/2011 13:40

Err, a physio referal is what I meant...

Ask to be referred to physio asap. Your hospital should have a dept.

  • Don't walk up/down stairs unless you absolutely have to.
  • I have a serola hip belt which has been an absolute lifesaver but they're £35. You can create something similar by wrapping tubigrip around you, below the nubbins of your hip bones and above your pubic bone to give your pelvis some support.
  • squeeze your bum muscles when you walk - this will engage your muscles so your pelvis doesn't wobble about when you walk, and will make your take shorter strides, so again protecting your pelvis.
  • I can't stress the next two enough 1) if you are doing any lifting or carrying, you MUST engage your stomach muscles, or you will trash your pelvis. 2) Do your Kegels (pelvic floor exercises) religiously.

You must try and keep your tummy and pelvis muscles working to keep the strain off your pelvis. Take it from me, if you don't look after your body it'll get worse. Bloody SPD, it sucks.

PS when I say lifting and carrying I mean carting your toddler - that's what does for me at the end of a long day!
