Does anyone else feel like this?
Unless I am eating all the time I feel very sick.
I am usually careful what I eat, I eat treats but usually eat smallish portions and I exercise regularly and because I already have 4 children I am never sat down or doing nothing!
I am size 10-12 and in my first 4 pregnancies I only had a baby bump and could still wear all my normal clothes however . . . This time I can't stop eating. I am not being greedy or using being pregnant as an excuse to eating but I am actually really hungry, my tummy is rumbling and it feels like I have not eaten for hours but all the time.
So shall I just eat loads or be careful what I eat or not eat as much? I can't exercise at all as I am so tired and I feel faint so I can't do much.

I don't care if I do put on weight as long as the baby would be ok
Sorry to ramble on.

I started feeling really really hungry all the time last week which was pregnancy week 28.

I could stuff my face for hours :)

I try to eat loads of fruits etc.

I'm pigging out as we speak. Im 39 weeks, due on Fri, and am consuming my own body weight in food atm. Tbf, though, havent eaten for two through the pg, so sort of making up for it now. I keep thinking "dont want to go into labour on an empty stomach, that'll not do me any good" so trying to justify it that way Grin

BellaCB · 14/12/2011 15:51

Heh - adventcandle, I'm doing exactly the same here! 35w now but spent the first four months throwing up at least twice a day, so I've decided that I'm "owed it" and I'm just eating! Biccys, I think if you are hungry then you are hungry and there isn't much you can do about it, your body obviously wants food! Try not to eat chocolate, cakes and biscuits every single time you're hungry, but other than that... just enjoy it Wink The last few weeks preparing for labour and breast-feeding are surely a licence to eat cake?!

Are you tired (you have 4 children - stupid question!).

I ask merely because I realised, after I lost my baby weight by the time DD2 was 3 months old, and then put it all back on and then some by the time she was 6 months old......I am permanently starving when tired. OK, I was BF at the time, but have noticed it since - if I have a bad night's sleep, I eat non-stop!

I think it must be a need for sugar/energy to keep you going. Now expecting DC3 and have been a fiend for sugary stuff - am normally more a savoury person. Spent first 14 weeks not fancying much so basically ate whatever I fancied on the grounds felt that some food was better than none - trying to be a bit better now at 26 weeks.

But it's definitely tiredness that makes the difference for me!

If it's what your body is asking for and it makes you feel better then eat eat eat. Just avoid the obvious real crap and eat plenty of slow release carbs, wholegrains, lean protein and lots of yummy veg. x

I ate a ridiculous amount the first time because i felt like I was positively RAVENOUS all the time. Result? I gained 5 stone!! Managed to lose 4, but the last stone was just a big fat cake belly, which I deserved. I'm now pg with DC2 and this time round every time I feel like I could literally eat the entire fridge I start out every time reminding myself that whatever I'm eating is being turned into skin, fingernails, eyes, my little dc's brain... and I don't think another pack of wotsits will cut it. So I'm eating more than I do when I'm not pg, but less MnMs/pizzas and more fruit, sandwiches and 'proper' food! I'm aiming to only gain 2 stone this time, as technically I was still overweight when I got pg this time. Gaining another 5st would be truly inexcusable. Good luck!!

I was ravenous in the first trimester and had to eat all the time to stop feeling sick. Like you, this did not happen in previous pregnancy. I am now 20 weeks and this has stopped and I have gone back to normal eating. But from other posts it sounds as though could become ravenous again later on in my pregnancy!

joosiewoosie · 16/12/2011 10:25

I'm like Timothy. I'm at week 10 of DC1 and all through 1st trimester have had to eat every 1 and a half/2 hours to stave away waves of nausea. I had my booking-in appointment the other day, where I turned out to be a stone and a half heavier than I was in August! (Admittedly, half a stone of that might be the all inclusive food from our honeymoon, but it was still a bit of a shock!)
My eating habits have changed since about wk 8 though. I can only manage smaller meals now, and am not feeling quite so nauseous so often, so have cut back on the snacks. So hopefully, my weight will regulate itself in the 2nd trimester, and i won't turn out to be ten tonne tessie!
I hope I don't get too hungry in the 3rd tri!

Thanks for your lovely replies.
I have read them carefully and you are all right and you are all more helpful than my midwife!
Off to embrace my hunger and eat some fruit and piles of cake and probably give birth to a 14 pound baby in a few months
