Oh gosh, please can anyone point me in the direction of a good high street shop for maternity bras. I'm only just 11 weeks, but seriously these puppies do not belong to me Shock. Also, will they re-measure you or is it guess work. I badly need to strap these Norks down asap, and I'm currently down to one bra which can handle the load Blush

Also I don't want to be paying a fortune, because I suspect they haven't quite finished have they Hmm

I feel your pain! My bangers are pretty big anyway (32FF) but have shot up to a 32HH...waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! And ouch. I always go to Bravissimo if they have a branch near you? The bras are so pretty and they are the only place to ever size me properly - avoid Marks and Spencers like they plague, they seem to size everyone at 34DD, crap!! They can be a wee bit pricey compared to high street bras but the way I see it is I'd rather fork out a bit than have horrible flappy rabbits ears after having the bubba Xmas Blush

Should say they advised me to get my bras a wee bit bigger so I can grow into them and they spent ages fitting me properly - really good service!

FirstTimeMum2b · 09/12/2011 16:55

I know that feeling my boobs were huge by ten weeks and i had to go and buy new ones yesterday at 14+5 as I have to have something to sleep in as its really uncomfortable. i have already gone up 3 cup sizes and the woman reassured me they would get bigger. I would suggest getting measured. Both debenhams and marks and spencers have reasonable maternity bras and both offer fitting. A few weeks ago you got £5 off if you had a fitting in debenhams.

McPhee · 09/12/2011 16:57

Oh damn, I've just looked and my nearest store is in brighton. I'm way down in the south east, but miles away from there. I had thought about marks and sparks, but maybe I'll steer clear then. Preferably a bra with a built in anaesthetic, to numb the pain too Blush

Thank you though Smile

Yes to Bravissiomo and you can wear underwires when pregnant as long as correctly fitted.

McPhee · 09/12/2011 17:00

Oh and do they have to be nursing/maternity bras or can I get t-shirt type bras for now?

Can you tell I'm a novice Grin

Marks and spencers were pretty good for me but admittedly I had an idea of my size as i had been measured in debenhams. I was told any bra is ok as long as its not wired.

fhdl34 · 09/12/2011 17:46

If it's any consolation, mine increased 3 cup sizes in the first term but stopped at about 12 weeks (I went from H to K/L!) so it might stop soon. I am also cursed with a large back size (48k at present) so couldn't find any nursing bras in this country or America (they either went up to the cup size but not the back size or vice versa).
Thankfully my mother is a dab hand with a sewing machine and has converted my existing bras. They don't look great but they'll do the job and I can adjust them if my boobs explode. Hopefully with you having a smaller back size, you'll be able to get some nursing bras to fit (if you're breastfeeding).

I have been in a 36C pre pregnancy, but I really really fill and spill now Blush

Bravissimo all the way for me! They are a godsend. Have an appt on Sunday too for my nursing bra fittings :)

McPhee · 10/12/2011 07:33

It's just typical that there's not one near me [sulk]

If you type nursing bras plus your bra size into google, it'll bring up some shops for you. You're not an unusual back size, it'll be the cup size that you might have an issue with. Some of the bra sites give very good videos on how to measure yourself accurately. I personally used to find (when I could fit into normal F & G cup bras), that places like M&S never measured me right anyway.

LordyLady · 10/12/2011 13:10

Good luck McPhee! Try Debenhams, they might be better at sizing than M&S then once you have your size you can trawl the internet for bargains - Ebay is great for that. I bought an soft cup bra to sleep in but there's no way on earth I'd wear it out of the bedroom as it's saggy-looking granny boobs all the way Xmas Blush, if you get fitted properly, i.e the wires are not anywhere near the breast tissue, you should be fine with a well-fitting wired bra. Happy shopping :)

McPhee · 10/12/2011 15:54

Well I ended up going to La Senza and the lady that fitted me was bloody brilliant, and I'll certainly be going back when I need to. So I've gone from a 36C to a 38DD Shock. But by god do my bangers feel more comfortable now Grin

I'm now off to hunt on ebay for a bravissimo Wink

Boob-alicious! Glad to hear you're more comfortable now. Might check out La Senza too....IF they go up to a whooping 32HH that is! Xmas Shock
