Pointless wee's

Bit random, but are anyone else's wee's really short? It's starting to irritate me, I run to the toilet bursting and hardly anything comes out, then 5 minutes later I need to go agin! Is this normal or could it be a sign on an infection?

I get this a bit (and I'm only 10 weeks) I think it's normal, as long as your not in any pain or anything else out of ordinary. Sometimes I feel like I need to go but then don't need to at all, I don't know if 'stretching' feelings are confusing me thinking they are 'needing loo' feelings

fhdl34 · 08/12/2011 22:13

I've had this all the way through really, I eventually learnt to tell the difference between when it was my bladder was full and when it was just a bit of pressure (and I wouldn't wet myself lol). I've never leaked/wet myself so that's good. I'm 38+1 now and I can go for a wee and feel the need to wee again straightaway afterwards but baby is starting to engage so been told it's that.

Crosshair · 08/12/2011 22:26

yep, 36 weeks and the baby tends to lean on my bladder which gives me the omg I need to wee now feeling. :)

kdiddy · 08/12/2011 22:51

All the time at the mo (am 34+4). Really irritating - someone told me to lean forward when you wee to make sure you empty your bladder totally but if the baby's pressing on the bladder it's going to make you need to go!

Traceymac2 · 08/12/2011 23:05

Are you sure you don't have a uti, the problem you are describing would fit with some of the symptoms. I had a uti in my last pregnancy and was asymptomatic so you don't always get pain and burning.

TopazMortmain · 09/12/2011 08:45

Ah, the pointless wee. My day consists of pathetic little wees and monster wees with no indication beforehand which it is to be. I simply can't tell the difference and it makes me insane. Basically there is a lot of weeing.

I think as long as there is no burning feeling, no pain (apart from little feet scraping your bladder Smile) and no fever it's just pregnancy.

This thread is making me need to pee again...

TopazMortmain · 09/12/2011 08:47

Just seen Tracey's post re asymptomatic infections! Consider me corrected re no burning or pain Grin

DeeOfTheNorthPole · 09/12/2011 09:00

What Topaz said. I would be having a lovely time on maternity leave if it wasn't for this charming little 'quirk' of pregnancy. Sometimes i go...little dribble...then go downstairs when i immediately feel like i need to go again. It's driving me insane.

Spoke to my DH about this and possible solutions but apparently having a commode in your living room is 'minging' Xmas Grin

Grumpla · 09/12/2011 09:05

I'm on ABs for an asymptomatic UTI at the moment!

Oh Pointless Wee, Oh Pointless Wee, So Feeble are your Splashings, Oh Pointless Wee, Oh Pointless Wee, So Frequent My Loo-Dashings...

I could go on. I won't though.

kiki22 · 09/12/2011 10:34

I'd go to the docs i had this for weeks and weeks and everyone kept telling me it was normal to pee a lot in pregnancy but turned out it was a UTI 3 days of AB and tho i pee a hell of a lot still it's normal pregnancy pee.

BTW i had no other signs of infection at all

AKP79 · 09/12/2011 12:55

I was given a really good tip for this at my ante natal group, next time you go for a pee lean as far forward as you can, it lifts the baby off your bladder and means you can empty it more efficiently. Seems to work for me, but I still pee a lot!

justhayley · 09/12/2011 14:54

Haha Grumpla that's brilliant Grin thanks for all your responses, glad it's not just me!
I'll keep an eye on it, havnt got any pain or anything just these little dribble wee's!

It drove me mad when I was expecting DD, to the point that the thing I was looking forward to once DD was born more than anything was doing a properly satisfying wee. I had an epidural to give birth and the midwife asked if she could put a tube in (catheter?) to empty my bladder, and the wee poured out. I was so gutted that the epidural meant I couldn't feel it that I almost cried Blush. And then I needed stitches so it was a few more weeks before I really got that proper wee I'd be dreaming of for months Grin

Fortunately it doesn't seem so bad this time round, but I agree with the leaning forward tip, it definitely works

deemented · 09/12/2011 17:23

I think we need to invest in some She-wees.

Most ideal when having to dash randomly into friends houses as we're passing, simpy to use the loo.

Manshape keeps saying i should borrow the one i bought for his mother last year... i'd rather not...

roseum · 09/12/2011 21:55

My ante-natal group we were also told to rock from side as well, as it can be the baby is lying on your bladder such that not much of what is there is actually getting out - the rocking helps release the pressure a bit (guess shifts baby slightly) you end up then having lots of little spurts of wee in one session on the loo (iyswim). Sorry that's a bit tmi - but how else to explain?....
