26w and wierd pain between legs - any ideas?

Hi everyone

I'm 26weeks and for the last three weeks or so, I've had a pain between my legs which feels kindof muscular. It tends to come on at night or if I've been sitting in the same position for a while and is uncomfortable (and can make me hobble until it loosens up) but not painful. I was wondering if it was pelvic pain but it's nothing like as bad as the ladies are experiencing in the other posts on this subject.

Be grateful for any ideas (and recommendations of what to do about it!)

thanks!

whereabouts between your legs? High or low? Tender to touch?

will try and explain without getting too graphic :-)

It feels almost exactly between my legs in the pubic area - feels muscular so an achy pain rather than sharp stabbing

hmmm, could be pelvic pain... I'm 20+4 with twins and have aching pain in the groin area which I discovered to my horror is varicose veins Sad. Its more aching whenever I stand up though, and worst if I've been on my feet a while. My friend went to the Women's Health Physio with what she thought was pelvic girdle pain and it turned out to be not- hers was varicose veins in her fanjo!!! (the only reason I thought to look....). But I do think pelvic girdle pain of some description is probably more common... In which case if it does get painful, physio can help.

Yep, same here and yes, it's most likely pelvic pain. I read up about it as well and was horrified that people ended up in wheelchairs and on crutches. Make an appointment with your GP/midwife and get a physiotherapist's referral. Till then, my GP's advice was to get out of bed slowly, keep my knees together as much as possible, avoid stairs and get tons of rest. He also recommended paracetamol for the pain but I've managed without it so far. Also just in general be careful about anything that pulls on the area- e.g. I commute by train to work and the gap between the platform and the steps is quite significant, so I've taken to getting off the train sideways. However, I think making sure the pelvic gap is as little as possible and just getting loads of rest (till you can go to a physiotherapist) is the best solution.

(Btw, my symptoms were: muscular pain between the legs. Would hurt when I turned in bed or got out of bed. But once I'm out and stand for a bit it eases off. Slight difficulty peeing because it hurts when I part my legs- again goes away during the day and eases up).
