and I don't mean the bump growing.

Last time I got a benign gum tumour called an Epulis of Pregnancy. Had never heard about them before. I couldn't eat on one side, and it kept bleeding - not nice. It did go away after I had my DS.

This time - I'm developing skin tags around my eyes. Again I had no idea this was a possible side effect of being pregnant but googling shows me that it is fairly common. I have one on each eyelid now which is really attractive.

virtually no need to shave my lower legs but my upper legs are very hairy!
vulva varicose veins have to be the yuckiest thing i've had though. (and making that hair removal that much tougher so I am a hairy monster!)
nipples also all chafed and horrible looking for no good reason.

feekerry · 06/12/2011 13:12

Ooh i've got some extra gum growth in my mouth. Maybe its a beigne tumour too? Its like an extra lump of gum that bleeds if I catch it on something. Another one with a disgustingly hairy bump. Mine is like thick goat hair. I also have the odd pube like hair growing out of my nipples and skin tags on them too. Nice.

ITryToBeZenBut · 06/12/2011 13:37

Snap re leg/armpit hair but I've have lost a ton of head hair - it's literally half as thick as it used to be.

Lucikly I have very, very thick long hair but when it was coming out in handfuls, I was bamboozled. Everyone talks about how your hair gets thicker in pregnancy and falls out after. The midwife told me some babies give hair, some babies take.

My baby has taken my head hair and given me some bump hair - down and actual hair - just lovely. Hmm

Crosshair · 06/12/2011 13:43

Yep Im having a boy. Also had puppp on my bump(Thank god it only lasted a couple of weeks).

Im not healing very well either. Confused

NigellaBot · 06/12/2011 15:14

Has anyone else found their feet have grown? I was a 6 and a half before pregnancy, now I'm having to buy a size 8!

I second the skin tags thing, never had them before in my life

Crosshair · 06/12/2011 15:21

''Has anyone else found their feet have grown?''

No thank god, Im already a size 8 at 5'5.

NigellaBot · 06/12/2011 15:46

Oh well, I guess I'm just a freak then Grin

Flisspaps · 06/12/2011 15:49

My belly was definitely hairier last time. DD is definitely a DD.

Pregnancy farts anyone? I didn't know it was possible for a human being to smell so bad.

HugosGoatee · 06/12/2011 15:54

Skin tags under my armpits and sides of boobs, and really dry hands. Also hair has stopped growing altogether, even on my head, saving money on colouring my roots!

Also when I feel like I need a poo I start rocking and moaning like I'm about to go into labour, think my bowels are spasming and it feels like (I imagine) real contractions! Gives DH a good fright each time Grin

HidingInTheUndergrowth · 06/12/2011 16:08

I am super Envy about all you people who have stopped growing hair. I seem to be morphing into Mr Tumnus and have developed an amazingly hairy belly. I have pretty much given up shaving as I am hairy again within moments so there doesn't seem much point.

I have been sneezing and had a runny nose since the first days of pregnancy, so much so that I nice man on the train the other day told me he hoped I got over my cold soon. Also started getting nose bleeds due to all the sneezing and nose blowing, had one in debenhams yesterday which was rather embarrassing.

What else...random itching on the back of my legs, really dry lips, amazingly painful shoulders at night (fine as soon as I get up), generally furiously angry about everything.

tentative123 · 06/12/2011 16:17

oh what fun!
I've got non growing leg hair, armpit hair is as it was, slightly downy belly hair, snotty nose and nosebleeds, a spot that won't heal inbetween my eyebrows to name but a few.

Also I repeatedly catch my teeth on my cheeks at the back which bleeds a lot, have the poo cramp thing all the time, bigger feet, and my hair is staying in at the moment!

helgaw99 · 06/12/2011 17:02

I have non growing leg hair, super fast growing under arm hair and belly hair that I could plait if I wanted. Also developed lovely prickly hairs on my chin that are thick and white- so odd. Also slightly crusty looking nipples- tiny bits of colostrum leaking out I think.

Have really dry lips and areas on my face a bit like the start of eczema where the skin is red and dry, this combined with big eye bags and a bot of a waddle and I am picture. People keep telling me I am glowing and all I think is "liar"!

26 weeks and counting...

EasilyDistracted77 · 06/12/2011 17:14

Witchofthenorth I'm with you on the uncontrollable wind. Sometimes it sounds like I have a farty soundtrack as I'm walking innocently along the road; useful to have my toddler with me to at least allow a bit of doubt in the mind of the passers-by.

lynniep · 06/12/2011 17:18

yep, I'm a skin tag sufferer. They popped up in all the places where theres any kind of friction (bra straps, bra wires, collars and clothing tags, jewellery, waistband even, but also on my eyes. I still have them on my eyes, just in the inner corners. you cant really see them unless you know they're there. I hate them though.

SchrodingersMew · 06/12/2011 19:11

Pursang and Thousand Yes, I think they are the same. It was horrific, I literally tore massive patches of skin off and had to go to dermatology to be covered toes to neck in weird slimy stuff and bandages. :(

I had the feet thing too. I am now a size 6 from a 3. Confused

Also, weird one! Since childbirth I now sneeze every time I get horny! DP thinks it's funny and cute but it's not exactly sexy, eh?

Tinkerisdead · 06/12/2011 19:18

I too got pitiryosis roscea in pregnancy last time. It was itchy as hell. I went to the nurse and said i think im 6 weeks pregnant. Yep all confirmed. Then i said whilst im here do you know what this is. She burst out laughing and said pitiryosis in pregnancy, have you had it for about 3 weeks? I'd got it from point of conception!!!

This time i've got constant blocked nose and a massively oversensitive fanjo so cant bare any sexual encounter!!!!! But i still get orgasms in my sleep when pregnant.

stinkingbishop · 07/12/2011 08:06

I BET most obstetricians (male, or female who haven't had kids) don't know the HALF of this. I think the next time we go in for appts we should tell them EVERYTHING.

Mwahahaha.

TheFirstNoelChinchilla · 07/12/2011 09:30

Actually, think we should keep a list on MN of all the odd things that we get during pregnancy, and the frequency. Some sort of chart where you can sign in, add yourself, then any odd things you've suffered, and tick the ones already there.

Then we could campaign for it to be added to NHS info packs, far more use than the Bounty stuff or Emma's sodding diary.

I'm coming to the end of my first one- it's been pretty good and I'm aware I've been very lucky. However, I still wish someone had mentioned the feeling like a zombie (and being covered in spots) for the first few weeks, the seemingly inexhaustable amount of gunk that leaks from every source for 9 months, the horribly dry eyes, the cramps that have woken me screaming in the middle of the night, etc, etc.

MarkStretch · 07/12/2011 09:35

fridakahlo I heard a click the other day too! I haven't told anyone about it because I obviously thought I was being mental but I HEARD IT!

Twunk · 07/12/2011 09:50

I got gallstones in pregnancy 1, psoriasis in pregnancy 2. And my hair got very curly (head hair) Xmas Grin

flyingbytheseatofmypants · 07/12/2011 10:18

My feet have grown too... I was a size 6 now I'm forced to wear clown shoes (or apparently an 8 to the people that work in shoe shops). My hair went really curly at the root during my second pregnancy (that's head hair here too) which looked very odd with the rest of my hair only being slightly wavy.. Oh and one of my nipples decided it wanted to be inverted during my second pregnancy, and is still like it. Ahh don't I paint a pretty picture of myself Xmas Grin

Silveryfox · 07/12/2011 11:52

I got Raynaud's Syndrome, but i got it in my nipples! It was sheer agony! It felt like someone had put bulldog clips on them. If I was driving and it happened (it just used to come on out of the blue) then I would have to stop as I literally could not think or concentrate on anything else! I'd have to pull over/stop what I was doing and stick my hands down my bra to warm them up til the feeling came back and the pain would subside. It was absolutely the worst symptom of my pregnancy - even worse than the 24hr nausea.

Anywone else heard of this? My GP and midwife had never heard of it - he thought I was making it up (and apparently his speciality was breasts!!) but I researched it and yes, it was Raynaud's Syndrome! OUCH!!!!

Crosshair · 07/12/2011 12:01

I have a weird thing, where my nipples go an odd pale yellow colour, no pain though. That does sound awful Silveryfox. :(

bmm39 · 07/12/2011 12:07

My nipples have gone much bigger and darker. Its gross! Blue veins on my boobs too.

Silveryfox · 07/12/2011 13:57

Lucky you Crosshair! My nips went white and hard, and the pain was so bad it used to make me cry Sad It went as soon as my DS was born - strange... All down to hormones apparently. Weird.
