hi - will give you a quick background. this pregnancy has been soooo stressful!!
DS1 - normal pregnancy born at 40+6
DS2 - normal pregnancy until PROM at 30wks - he was born at 31+3 (all ok!)

This pregnancy.....well i have prolapse, which has not been too symptomatic (although i did have a pessary ring for a week which was not fun!) because of my previous prem birth i've been having my cervical length checked every few weeks - been 'ok' up to now. 20wk scan they noticed an echogenic area on his right lung - since then been to the john radcliffe twice to see a specialist. CCAM confirmed - but thought (at present) that it won't be symptomatic at birth and won't need immediate surgery, so i can deliver here in northampton hopefully.

at my appt in oxford on friday, the OB also measured my cervix which measured at 15mm. he didn't seem massively concerned (.....i am though!!?!) and in hindsight he didn't mention if it was open/closed/funneling or anything. anyway he prescribed me cyclogest pessarys to take once a day.

Now - i'm sure he said insert them rectally, (and the instructions on the packet say they can be vaginal or rectal) but when i picked them up from the pharmacy yesterday there weren't any 'personalised' instructions for them. part of me thinks it would make more sense to insert them vaginally but i'm worried in case i shouldn't, but also don't want to NOT take them (as i obvoiusly need help!) so have taken them rectally the past 2 days.

i'm only 25wks today (which i know is viable) however with the added factor of the CCAM (which is a lung malformation) then this baby does NOT need to be arriving any time soon!!! anyone got any advice - PLEASE!!!! xx

I was on the progesterone suppositories in my last pregnancy and was told I could take them either rectally or vaginally. I found vaginally messy and preferred rectally.

Hope baby stays put for a while longer yet.

I was on them to prevent premature labour, yes. They didn't work but the pregnancy was doomed from the beginning - massive bleed at nine weeks, continuous bleeding throughout, waters broke at 18 weeks. I gave birth at 23 weeks so you are already doing better than me.

One of the mums at the premature baby group I attend was on them after having her first at 25 weeks, and she didn't have her second baby til she was induced at 37/38 weeks. Who knows if the cyclogest is what made the difference, but it's one of those things that won't do any harm.
