I've just taken 2 pregnancy tests, both positive, after 6 months of trying :) .

AM scarred, happy, nervous, but also a little worried, as I have just had my 38th birthday, and have read various problems about older mothers. I have had some cramps, morning sickness, but also had one day of heavier than usual yellow discharge, no blood, not boown and wondered if this is one of those things that happen in early pregnancy that no one tells you about?
According to my dates, I am over 5 weeks pregnant. Many thanks for advice.

It's one of those things no one ever mentions :)

Congratulations!

Congratulations!

Cramping and heavier discharge seems to be normal so long as there is no bleeding and cramping isn't really really painful and accompinied with spotting/bleeding.

Hope you have a happy and healthy 9 months!

Congratulations from me too! Yes, as the others have said, the discharge is something completely normal and unmentioned.

I am 36 years old, and 24 weeks pregnant. I too read various things about older mothers. You are not going to be able to wave a magic wand and stop worrying. BUT . . .

Lots and lots of people over the age of 35 have perfectly healthy, happy pregnancies.

Things can go wrong for younger women too.

Trust your body. Thinking and worrying won't change anything - it's up to your body now to do what it is naturally capable of doing. Have faith in that.

Oh, and set little milestones - I find that really helps. The next date to work towards.

Congratulations again. :)

Congrats to you both. I'm 39 next month and am 8+3. I too was freaking out about my age to my gp who just looked at me and said "you aren't old, stop
Worrying".

One of my friends had a wonderful healthy son born to her back in Marcthis year. In June, she had her 45th birthday. Ok, her son is her 5th child, but I think her 4th child is 19 now...

Just look after yourself. And congratulations GrinThanks

Thank you for all the lovely messages, am feeling much more relieved!

As it's so early on, I've not told anyone apart from hubby, and my parents. It's difficult to know when the best time to tell everyone else, but I though after the first trimester would probably be about time.

I've also booked an early scan, just to try and stop me worrying a little more.
Fingers crossed!

I'm 38 and first time pg (9 weeks). It is hard not to worry I find, but I think that pg is a gift so I'm trying v hard to enjoy every moment in the present. A phrase I've said a few times to dh is 'cross the bridge when we come to it'.
Dh is 46 so there are plenty of 'what ifs' for us, but I try to remember that lots of older people have successful pgs with happy, healthy bubbsies at the end. Fingers crossed for all of us 'elderly primagravida' ladies for happy outcomes. P.s can I join your oldies team?
