Are all 'banned' foods ok for new mums? Gift question!

Hi, all

Quick question from someone who ought to know! Our lovely friend has today had her first child, and should, in a few days (post caesar) be heading home.

As I am 21+3 myself, I've been trying to think of a lovely gift for new mum and dad, and have had a thought...but wanted to check it out with you guys first!

So I thought a platter of easy-to-eat foods would be nice. Parents have access to food, even if no time to cook, and it can be things mum has been denied for 9 months: cheeses, pate etc.

Are all these things ok if your breastfeeding?
And can you think of any other useful and appreciated gifts/additions to the platter?

I want it to be something we can just drop off, rather than bugging them with our company for hours as they try and establish a routine.

Tbh food you can warm up in the microwave and eat in 10 minutes would be more useful, lasagne, cottage pie, soup etc.

I forget people have microwaves now...we haven't! I'll have a think along those lines too. Thanks!

May be not lasagnes.can end up with lasagne overload as everyone tends to bring it. Platter sounds lovely and good for healthier snacks while breastfeeding. Only things you still can't have after are swordfish & marking and lots tuna etc...as heavy metals will pass through milk.lanisoh nipple ointment if she hasn't got any. Good luck with your own baby too x

Thermal cup is a fab idea. I lost count of how many cold cups of tea went down the sink!

Thanks for the tips, everyone - will ponder over the course of the day.
