Awful palpitations over the last couple of days, at 9 weeks. Is this normal?

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has or is suffering from a bit of a racing heart during their first tri? It's happening mostly when I'm sat resting in the evenings.

I'm due at the midwife for the first time on Thursday, so I'll obviously mention it. But if anyone can shed any light or put my mind at ease I'd really appreciate it Smile

I had this in my 1st trimester. I used to wake in the night with it so it was when I was resting too. It faded away by the 13th week I think.

I did google it and found some evidence that it's a known symptom of pg which was a relief because I was getting stressed about it. I was convinced I was anxious about being pregnant for some reason - I wasn't!

I've resisted google so far, because I've already scared myself stupid a few times with other ailments Blush

Last night I considered visiting A&E because I'd convinced myself something was wrong, then as quickly as it starts it stops Hmm

I've never had anything like it before.

I had this too, and was even sent to a cardiologist about it who found nothing wrong. I was supplementing progesterone, and when the dose of this my symptoms got better. It could just be a coincidence that they were going to finish then anyway. Definitely mention to MW though.

I had this too, generally when I was laying on the sofa in the evenings. Apparently totally normal.

Thank you ladies. You've put my mind at ease a bit Smile

Yup me too, weird isn't it

oltob · 30/11/2011 10:10

Yup me too with a bit of breathlessness too, happened one time in a meeting too when things were getting a bit heated anyway so it looked like I was really losing it when really was trying to get my breath. It's the body adjusting to the extra blood it's pumping in supporting the baby i think - well that's my tenuous understanding of it anyway.

BellaCB · 30/11/2011 16:51

Ditto - lots of breathlessness and palpitations in the 1st trimester and, like oltob, I just assumed that it was my body struggling to cope with all the extra blood and stuff. Which is a highly technical diagnosis but at 33w I'm fine and so is the baby!

I had it too - in fact palpitations was one of my first symptoms (before I did a test) and when I googled it and discovered it was a pregnancy symptom I started to think...
I had breathlessness later in my first trimester too.
